About this listen

Though Rylann Pierce tried to fight the sparks she felt for billionaire heir Kyle Rhodes the night they met, their sizzling chemistry was undeniable. But after being stood up on their first date, Rylann never expected to see him again. So when she finds herself face to face with Kyle in a courthouse nine years later, she's stunned. More troubling to the beautiful Assistant U.S. Attorney is that she's still wildly attracted to him.

Just released from prison, Kyle Rhodes isn't thrilled to be the star witness in a high-profile criminal case - but when Rylann comes knocking at his door, he finds she may be the one lawyer he can't say no to. Still as gorgeous and sharp-tongued as ever, she lays down the law: she doesn't mix business with pleasure. But Kyle won't give up on something he wants - and what he wants is the one woman he's never forgotten....

Great listen..

Any additional comments?

This wasn't as good as the other two books but I still enjoyed it. I really liked Kyle and Rylann but there was no suspense in the story, like there was in the others. It was nice to see Rae again, as well as Jack, Cameron, Nick and Jordan. I've really enjoyed this series and I'm off to read the next one now.

As to the narrator: Ms. White keeps surprising me with her narration. She did a wonderful job with the voices in this book.

Entertaining & Non Violent

Julie James has a wonderful talent for creating strong female characters who have interesting lives, rather than boring wimps who are waiting for a man to fulfill them.

Kyle was smart, funny, caring and nonviolent, the perfect male romantic hero. His relationship with an assertive & talented US Attorney was entertaining & engrossing.

Hot sexy fun

They barely met when he disappears completely from her life. Many years later they meet again. These FBI series stories are a lot of fun. Each story introduces new characters while retaining a few from other books in the series. Loved these. Yes, they are fluff!! So much wealth. In all these stories, the characters are high achieving and well heeled. Where are the stories of the girl next store with two babies and unable to make rent?

Love this series

Where does About that Night rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Right up there with my favorite, The Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts

Any additional comments?

Can't wait until April for the fourth book in the series

A bit Anti-Climactic

I have thoroughly enjoyed the two previous books in this series, and am fond of Karen White's narration. But I found this one to be lacking a bit compared to the others. I suppose I liked the suspense of the other two and this one was more of just your standard romance novel feel.

Still very enjoyable though! I will continue with this series.

FBI and AUSAs with loose lips

For as much confidential and under cover work these characters do books 1-3, I can’t get past how much they openly reveal information. Secret undercover mission? Just tell the girl you are sleeping with. Meeting someone for the first time in a personal setting? Introduce yourself with your professional title, because you are super important.

As for this story, it’s not bad. I almost DNF when she emailed her ex in return to his baiting with the “hi” email. C‘Mon woman, he is simply seeing if that door is still open and you walked right in. It gets worse from there. Side note, not everyone deserves closure. In fact, as you get older, you realize you may never get closure and just need to move on with your life like a big boy and girl.

Kyle also comes across as an @$$hole in the first few chapters. How are you going to me mad at the people doing their job when you effed up big time?

This one is ok. But I wanted to talk some sense into the FMC multiple times.

ABOUT THAT NIGHT

This is the third book in this series. I like this series. This book is about Rylann and Kyle Rhodes. Kyle is rich and Rylann is a lawyer, there attracted to each other. Kyle gets in trouble for deleting alot of things on Twitter. While he's in jail he over hears some things that Rylann want him to testify in court what he heard. There banter back and forth is good. I stayed interested in this story. I have liked all three books so far. I'll continue this series. Karan White does a good job narrating this book. Clever plot + serious chemistry = Perfection!

Story - This book has likeable, strong, smart lead characters. The plot has an interesting legal aspect which makes the background story interesting, and the way the characters meet and continue their romance is clever and romantic. They have serious chemistry for each other, which culminates in a couple pretty detailed, steamy episodes in the bedroom. The computer hacking element is a hoot, and so is some of the banter between the characters. My favorite is "Like Bambi taking his first steps"..... it's priceless! I wouldn't change anything about this story. It has everything you could hope for in a romantic novel.

Narrator - Good job. She does mispronounce a couple words, but it doesn't detract from the story. The male voice she gives Kyle is okay (it doesn't sound adolescent or nasally), but some female readers can do much better men.

Overall - If you like contemporary romance, you will probably love this book.

Very Likeable New Series!

Would you listen to About that Night again? Why?

Yes. I would listen to About that Night again because it's an enjoyable story and I like the characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of About that Night?

The most memorable moment for me was when Kyle Rhodes shut down Twitter. I'm not the biggest fan of social networking, so the notion of this is thoroughly entertaining for me.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I have mixed feelings about Karen Whites performance.

What I like is that she obviously has a wonderful voice for narration, she's able to create and sustain different voices for each character and she's able to effectively convey the emotion of each scene. Those are the 3 factors that need to be present for me to enjoy an audio book.

HOWEVER and that's a big however-she has this way of way of narrating - specifically, but not limited to - conversations between characters in what I've named a high-low voice. I call it high-low because she'll start talking in a very pleasant falsetto, but will then suddenly drop down into a pleasant baritone-or vice versa. BUT the journey from falsetto to baritone is NOT pleasant, it's weird. I don't know anyone who talks like this in real life and if they did I would probably avoid talking to them at all.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No. There were some lovely romantic gestures made that would make most women swoon, but I wasn't especially "moved".
