1975 is a time of change in America. The Vietnam War is ending. Muhammad Ali is fighting Joe Frazier. And in the small town of Monta Clare, Missouri, girls are disappearing.

When the daughter of a wealthy family is targeted, the most unlikely hero emerges—Patch, a local boy, who saves the girl, and, in doing so, leaves heartache in his wake.

Patch and those who love him soon discover that the line between triumph and tragedy has never been finer. And that their search for answers will lead them to truths that could mean losing one another.

A missing person mystery, a serial killer thriller, a love story, a unique twist on each, Chris Whitaker has written a novel about what lurks in the shadows of obsession and the blinding light of hope.

Best book of 2024

It has all the things - suspense, heartache, hope, beauty and bravery. Narrator is perfect. I was constantly torn by wanting to sit and listen longer but knowing that would make it end sooner. Sad it’s over but so happy I found it

Thought provoking

this book reaffirmed for me how glad I am with the life I have had. About half way through, I thought about giving up on the book. It was so depressing, but I continued and I'm glad I did. It is story of tragedy, loss, and love in various forms and what you will do for love. I would read another book by Chris Whitaker

Beautifully written!

First book by this author and I will look forward to reading his others. This book is filled with wonderful, well-thought out characters. One of those books that makes you feel wistful and sad when it ends. And it has everything!! Romance, suspense, mystery, friendship and a serial killer. Narrators were perfect!

Characters so well defined

Loved the twists and turns the characters encountered while believably maturing throughout. You want them to get past their traumas, yet you root for them to find their answers.

Wonderful‼️

I’ve always wished for a story that would go on and on and on. I’m so happy this one did. He truly painted a picture of everything completely. The characters were so very real. I loved each and everyone in the book.

Good story

Long and drawn out story line, but worth going through. Don't like the narrators voice.

Wonderful story

All the Colors of the Dark has more twists and turns than a mountain road. Brilliantly written, it can often break your heart, then offer up hope once again. Is no one who they seem? I must admit that it was a little long and tended to drag in the mid section, but the last fourth had tons of action. Richly drawn characters. The accolades it is receiving are well deserved.

Great story with a lot of twists and turns!

Excellent and memorable story, The use of the “C” word was a surprise, other than that I highly recommend reading it.
