Publisher's summary

What can happen when two redheads meet and fall for each other?

Miller Hollenbeck - She’s in a job which she hates. In her spare time, she loves to upcycle furniture.

Miller Hollenbeck dropped the screw she was about to tighten with her electric drill and it slipped to the floor. The door dropped away from her hand and fell over onto her shoulder. She swore loudly and expressively and pushed the door to one side as she retrieved the escapee screw. Hanging doors was something she had learned how to do but it was never easy. Dressed in her favorite attire of jeans and a skimpy tee with a tool belt around her waist, Miller was determined to make this house just the way she imagined. She wanted to do it herself. As she straightened, she jumped as a voice spoke from the front porch.

Jules Callander - He’s a successful photographer, but his family has somewhat dubious connections.

“Jules is one fantastic photographer. Just so natural at it. His prints sell for big money.” Miller was curious after Evan’s remarks about his friend. As she sat with a drink before crawling between the sheets, she pulled up Jules Callander’s name on the web. “Wow,” she said out loud. “He is actually really famous and he was impressed by my handiwork. Well there’s a compliment I can live with.” She switched off the tablet and her eyes closed almost immediately. The work in the house and the evening meal at Jazz’s house was taking its toll. Sleep washed over her like a comfortable blanket. The last image in her head was Jules Callander pointing his tiny camera at her and the new front door.

Almost Picture Perfect

A clean, short cozy mystery.

Olivia Swift continues the series with another couple falling for each other, but being plagued by some unfortunate circumstances. Can they figure out what’s really going on before someone pays the ultimate price?

Ginger Sue’s narration was well done, and easy to listen to.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Enjoyable read/listen

Almost picture perfect (Blooms, Bones and Stones, #3), my third read from author Olivia Swift. A thrilling cozy mystery. The plot is consistent & clever steadily building to a satisfying ending although the beginning of the book was a bit "romancy" for me. Becky Boyd's narration adds to the enjoyment. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to the next book in this series The Secret of the Quilt. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

More Romance than Mystery

Almost Picture Perfect is the third book in Olivia Swift's Blooms, Bones and Stones Cozy Mystery Series. Although this is billed as a series, the books can be read as stand alone novels as each focuses on a different romantic couple facing their own unique mystery. This book is more focused on the romance of Jules Callendar and Miller Hollenbeck than a true mystery. The book opens with the couple meeting for the first time and moves quickly through Jules taking photographs of Miller's upcycle projects while encouraging her to start offering her completed items for sale to the public. The mystery comes in only after one of Jules' photographs of Miller is displayed at a local gallery that subsequently creates friction with Jules' mother and inspires jealousy in a female acquaintance of Jules.

Although the author does a good job of character and plotline development, I would like to see more focus on the actual investigation as it appeared to be more of an afterthought that was designed to just cause a speed bump in the road of love for these characters. Unfortunately, the narration was inconsistent in pace and character voices and several times I found myself getting distracted and losing focus as a result.

I received a copy of this audiobook from StoryOrigin and the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

book 3 in series Blooms, Bones and Stones

Book 3 in Swift's Blooms, Bones & Stones. A short listen but with detail and depth not normally found in short reads / listens. Good storyline and flow. Sweet and cozy. Main characters are Miller (stuck in a job she dislikes and upcycles furniture as a hobby) and Jules (a professional photographer - smitten at first sight). While this can be read as a stand alone, the majority of these characters are found in the previous reads in this series so to get the back ground and how these characters inter connect it's good to read / listen in series order if able. Fun and sweet a nice short listen to entertain!
