Publisher's summary

After thousands of years, they're back.

Paranoid inventor and draconian expert Sam isn't anything special...and that's all he wants anyone who may be watching to think about him. Sam is a conspiracy theorist who lives on the fringes, preferring to keep a low profile while he does what he knows best: study the ancient draconian culture he knows isn't a fairy tale. Aided by his intuitive ability to create gadgets and harness sound waves, Sam changes identities and addresses as often as he changes his clothes...all in a lifelong quest to evade The Man. When he accidentally wakes a "sleeping" dragon who insists they are mates, Sam's carefully structured world shifts sideways.

Blaze is a dragon warrior...an alpha guardian assigned to protect the Crown Prince of Novis. When he and his men at arms are sent into stasis after a battle for their lives, the last thing he expects after being awakened is to find himself thousands and thousands of years in the future. Not only is he now in a modern world where his kingdom no longer exists, but the people here believe dragons are nothing more than mythological creatures. The sound of his true mate's heartsong coming from the adorably awkward omega who freed him from stasis gives the alpha all the reason he needs to quickly acclimate to the changes the fates have thrown his way. But first, he needs to make Sam see reason and admit that not only is he an omega, but also Blaze's mate.

Is Sam truly paranoid if someone is watching them? Settle in and let our dragons sweep you off your feet...and into a world filled with adventure!

Alpha Ablaze is the second audiobook in the Waking the Dragons series and features literally rock-hard hunks, a group of dragon hunters who shouldn't be discounted, something called a "Corny", and an HEA just as legendary as the dragons in it.

This audiobook contains Mpreg and is 18-plus only. But did you really expect anything less from Susi and Piper?

A thrilling tale

A thrilling tale with good characters. I liked the narrator's ability to portray the jovial side of Blaze and the way the paranoia of Sam was highlighted. The drama in the plot captures your attention and makes for good entertainment. I enjoyed this.

Great addition to the series!

4.5 Stars Overall!

Alpha Ablaze is the second book in the Waking the Dragons series and it needs to be read/listened to in order, since not only does it follow the storyline that started in book 1, but there are a lot of recurring characters and you'll be thoroughly lost otherwise and truly, it's so good, that you don't want to miss out.

We met Sam in the previous book and truly, I wasn't too sure what to expect. He grated on my nerves then a bit, and he still did so here, but I warmed up to him after learning of his backstory and seeing why he's as high strung as he is. Blaze, though, I adored! I think he's my favorite character so far! He's so much fun and so patient with Sam, I loved how loving and protective he was.

I'm loving the ongoing plotline and I'm eager to find out about the missing dragon shifter. And of course, I'm just adoring the dynamics between all the shifters and their mates and friends. I'm quite eager to reading more about Peter, perhaps with Sana?

Colin Darcy did a fantastic job with the narration, he brought Sam's paranoid personality and Blaze's Alpha/carefree/easygoing attitude perfectly to life and I loved all the different voices he used for the different characters.

Be it on audiobook or ebook, I think this is a must in any paranormal Alpha/Omega lover's library!

Nicely done continuation of the series.

Sam awakens the rest of the dragons. When he hears the heart song he realizes Blaze is his mate. Because he knows a dragon can only mate with another dragon he discounts the feelings. He has deeply hidden his past. Where the specter of “the man” controls his life. Totally paranoid. He’s afraid of dragons, fire and people.
Blaze know Sam is his, but is willing to go along with Sam’s fiction until he can accept that Blaze is his mate.
When Sam is tasked with finding part of a dragon hoard, he steps up to help the dragons and in the process finds his future, the truth of his past, family, and danger.

I liked the narration, thought it was well done. The story is full of strong likable characters I want to see more of.

Love and Humor

This is book 2 in the series and continues the story of the "frozen" dragons waking up after thousands of years to the world of today. Sam turns out to be the heartsong, or mate, of the dragon Blaze. Blaze is a fun-loving laidback guy most of the time, so he is the perfect match for the uptight and paranoid Sam. Sam has had a difficult life, and it is great to see Blaze smooth some of Sam's rough edges and love him whether he is grouchy or not. Several parts of this book are laugh out loud funny, and other parts hurt my heart. I am frustrated with the dragons, especially Cory, for being way too trusting of the one who is missing from their group. Overall, I found this to be very engrossing and entertaining. I think the performance of the narrator is good, though I am one of those who finds Sam's voice to be annoying. With the multiple characters inhabiting this world, I never felt confused about who was speaking, so I consider that a narration win. I'm excited about book three, which seems like it might be less humorous and possibly more painful. This series is great!

What a ride!

Alpha Ablaze is a great addition to the Waking the Dragons series. What could be better than dragon shifters. I loved Blaze and Sam's connection. There is such humor and sweetness in this story.

Colin Darcy does an amazing job of giving voice to these dragons. I was swept away while listening to this book. Great job!!!

Knowledge is power

In this second book, we get the obnoxiously paranoid Sam and Blaze, his soulmate from an earlier time. In the first book, I didn't really like Sam, and it took a while for him to grow on me in this book. Fortunately, by the end of the story, I really felt for him and was glad he got to reconnect with people from his past.

Blaze was probably my favorite so far, with his ability to learn things just by touching a person. I think his ability to adapt to the modern world and help his fellow dragons adjust helps give the story a different feel than the first one.

Based on some of the information given, I'm starting to have my guesses of who the true bad guy is and look forward to discovering if I'm right.
