The Twists and Turns in the Story

I liked listening to this book and the escapades that Amelia and Rick get into while doing their detective work. There's an underlying story about the attraction Rick and Amelia feel for each other but Amelia has a rule against getting involved with co-workers so there are ups and downs there.

Pros: The story is "clean" with no sex or swearing so that gets extra stars from me.

The narrator tried to change her voice for some of the characters but was unsuccessful in doing that. She had an okay voice as the narrator.

There are numerous twists and turns which kept me guessing who the culprit was until the end of the book.

The overall story was a good one.

Cons: The attraction between Trick and Amelia was more like a teen romance than an adult one at times. I did like that there was no sex so that earns extra stars from me.

The narrator needs more inflection in her voice. The book was read without much variation in her voice. I'm not one who cares about the narrator changing voices, but there were a lot of characters in this book and some modulation of her voice would have been helpful.

I've lived in Arizona a long time and am blessed to live in Northern Arizona with a lot of open space so we get javalina in our yard frequently and while they can be aggressive when cornered, they are generally more afraid of us and will run away quickly. We enjoy seeing them with their babies and have never felt threatened by them. I felt like they were portrayed as mean, aggressive animals which they are not unless they feel threatened.

Overall this is an easy book to listen to and the storyline is believable and while it's not a deep story it's enjoyable and fun to listen to. I will listen to more from this author and recommend this book.

Mysteries and Romance? Yes please.

Fun set of quick mysteries, with a nice romantic storyline carried across. Stories are each a nice length to fit in when getting ready in the morning, or unwinding for bed.

Cozy mysteries with a dash of love

This is my first intro into the Amelia Moore Detective Agency. What a fun series and cozy mysteries. It’s fun to see Amelia and Rick with their bucket lists and secret wishes to just maybe look into a relationship together and have those kisses that take your breath away. Amelia specializes in finding lost people and while her methods aren’t necessarily high tech she manages to have happy endings and reunite families together. The narration was excellent also.

Cozy mystery with travel to Mexico

Amelia Moore Mysteries Volume 1 consists of The Bali Mystery, The Shamrock Case and The Missing Heir. In the first, they travel to Bali to find their client’s missing brother. In the 2nd book, they travel to Ireland searching for relatives and answers. In the 3rd book they travel to Mexico to find a man who had to claim an inheritance. The stories are interesting. I received the audiobook from Linda Weaver Clarke for an honest review.

My review

Linda Weaver Clarke has resurrected The Amelia Moore Detective Series! A few years ago I had read the previous Amelia Moore books and I must admit that having a different narrator was kind of different but not bad.
What I liked about this book was that with each country they went to (Bali Islands in Indonesia, Ireland and Mexico) was very detailed in describing the culture, religion and the all the different things Rick and Amelia did when they weren’t working on their case. I also liked that there was quite a bit of romance because I honestly have a hard time reading/listening to a book without romance.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author. These are my own and honest opinions.

Enjoyed

A trip to Bali for Amanda and Rick, sounds delightful and with good description we are drawn in. A mystery to solve why a person would with leave everything to come. Amanda solves her cases and with the love of travel. A cousins warns her off, finding even more secrets. and lies. The narration. was good. Great series, good characters, with scenic places well describe. Enjoyed. Given audio for my voluntary review.

Not what I was expecting

The story writing was pretty simple and basic....it reminded me of something I would have written in high school. The narrator's voice was lovely but too slow for me. Had to speed it up to get through it. Although Volume 1 has many "books" I was only able to make it through the first one, Bali. I don't have any desire to hear the rest of the stories.
