About this listen

Amethyst de Burgh has been sent by the archbishop as assistant to her uncle, the master mason in building a castle for the border lord, Marcus Montclair. She has always dreamed of this opportunity, but knows a woman in this position would not be accepted if it wasn't for the sealed and stamped missive giving the order, sent by the Archbishop himself.

Marcus is not pleased when a woman shows up saying she is the new assistant to his master mason. And when his father arrives with a missive from the king, things only get worse. Now he's expected to marry the girl when she challenges his every word.

With his castle unfinished and his defenses low, he knows it won't be long before the Scots come over the border and they are attacked. But facing the enemy isn't half as challenging as dealing with his new wife.

A hardened border lord and a headstrong woman are forced to work together to change their ways. And in the process they learn that things are not always as they seem....

4th in the series....

I enjoyed the book and narrative but..... somehow something was almost missing.... it was very good but it felt like it was rushed or at times sort of glossed over. Don't get me wrong I still think it was worth it. But it was not quite as fulfilling.

I bought this audible edition for $1.99 when I purchased the kindle edition for $3.99. I've done the same with the first book in the next series, Onyx.

It was a wonderful auditory experience.

I read this book before, some years ago. I enjoyed Amethysts love story, her character and stubborn nature too.
After listening to this story, now narrated by Mr. Brian J. Gill , I feel as though it is a new story and somehow I read it wrong or rather as if I misinterpreted it. It felt new, the meanings richer and his accent made me feel as if I left NY and vacationed in England. I gave it 4 stars because Mr. Gill made me laugh every time he made the young ladys' voices, especially that of Marcus' young female cousin.

Most enjoyable experience

This is my first audio book and loved it. Being able to do things while listening to a great story and a great story teller, made the experience very enjoyable. As usual Ms Rose wrote a story full of love adventure and action. The characters where well developed and your felt for them in their times of trouble. As usual she also included a number of side characters to keep the story interesting.
The narrator Brian J. Gill did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life. It was so nice having someone pronounce the words as they should be said instead of trying to guess. Now when I read another of Ms Roses books, I can hear Brian in my head reading to me. I look forward to listening to more of his audio books and if you haven’t tried one, this is a good place to start.

Good story.

I like the story, not so much the narrator. He makes Amethyst sound bubble brained and twittery when she isn't.

Enjoyable story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would definitely recommend this audio book. Ms. Rose brought her characters to life. Amethyst wants to build a castle and Marcus wants his built. When the two meet there are sparks... Use to listening to books longer in length, as the book neared it's end I kept thinking nooooo I don't want it to end!

Elizabeth Rose, what a fantastic series!

Amethyst deByrg was sent by the Archbishop to
Marcus Montclair Castle! Marcus was an abrupt
Border Lord who had no patience or faith in
a woman's worth.
Amethyst stood up to him and didn't take
any of his cruelty. Amethyst is the 4th
Daughter of the Dager.
Love this book, awesome narration!

Amethyst

It was a very good story and the narrator made it amazing to listen to. Four such different sisters, such different stories.

Sisters

This is the last book in a set about four sisters and every book is wonderful. They can be read alone or in order which is great. The wonderful story lines keep your interest and the deliverance is performed beautifully.

Another Great One!!

Any additional comments?

Amethyst was named after the stone in the dagger that her mother had bought. An old blind hag told her it would ensure she found her true love.
Amethyst was interested in building castles. She went to a site where one was being built. The Archbishop of Canterbury had given her permission to be involved in the building of it. Her uncle was the master mason in charge of seeing the castle done. Earl Marcus was having the castle built and he was a very hard hearted man and a border lord. When he spotted her uncle talking to her, the Earl came over and he and Amethyst clashed right away.
Marcus's father showed up with a letter from the King that he and her father had betrothed Marcus and Amethyst. They found out that everything is not always as they seem.
You need to get all of the Daughters of the Daggers!! They are wonderful.
