About this listen

Lt. Col. Ed “Fast Eddie” Cobleigh flew as a fighter pilot with the US Air Force, the US Navy (TOPGUN), the Royal Air Force, the Imperial Iranian Air Force, and the French Air Force.

This is his story--a prequel and a sequel to his number-one best-selling memoir, War for the Hell of It: A Fighter Pilot’s View of Vietnam.

It’s all here: the life of a fighter pilot in peacetime, the aircraft, the missions, the tales, the women, the thrill of supersonic flight, and the tragedy of fatal crashes.

Climb aboard, strap in, and let’s go fly fighter planes!

Very good way of writing. Not like most writing blood and guts!

A little was ok but too many sexual references for my taste. One or two would have gotten the point across.

Recommended!

Collection of stories about a fighter pilot's career. I listened to this after his "For the hell of it" book. this one was lighter without the political talk. I'd recommend it for a casual read.

One of The Great Tales of Flying , a GREAT READ

The stories sound like those you might hear from a fellow flyer meeting for drinks every six months or year across a long career.

The narration is excellent , the stories amazing and well told, informative and interesting .

Highly recommended . One of his best books from a highly respected fighter pilot and author.

fighter pilot that doesn't take himself to seriously

a man that must be close to his 80s writes like he's still a young man with brilliant humour, often self-deprecating. he takes you through the life of a fighter. While I respect the professionalism and skill of many a fighter pilots I've read from. This might be one of the few I think I would get a long with on a personal level. Mostly because of the brilliant humor.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this. You may notice that I gave it an overall four stars out of five. after I gave everything else five stars. The reason I did so was because I wished it was longer. I really enjoy Ed's storytelling. I just wish there were more stories to go around. Even the stuff that he may consider trifling, I think would be interesting because of his great ability to tell the tale. I would recommend this book to everyone.
