Publisher's summary

Sorch is an orc mage in a world where orcs are cursed with stupidity every time they cast a spell. After thwarting an evil plot to destroy Royal Moffit, Sorch became the prisoner of a demon-worshiping cult. They imprisoned him in an attempt to steal his nightmares.

One daring jailbreak later, Sorch is unleashed upon the world again. This time, however, he's not so sure he wants to go back to a life of magic and adventure. It would be a long, difficult road, and being the smartest orc in all of Panos wasn't all fun and games the first time around.

But with the help of a new friend, Sorch rediscovers his purpose in life. He embarks on a quest to save his friends, who were trapped on another plane of existence. During his travels, he encounters more horrible injury, more magical treasures, casual love, noisy roommates, wild elves, university midterms, a plot against all of Panos, and then of course he saves the world.

Or does he?

Hope is the best thing.

Loved this hero. And his friends.

Sorch's adventure has all the battle and heroism fantasy lovers want, with just a bit of cozy.

Lots of lifestyle representation

Fantastic writing and representation. Captivating from start to finish. Each book ends on cliff hangers, but the 1st chapter of the next book is included.

Pretty good follow up story, but too short

Pretty good follow up story, I like the straight forward story telling of this series, but it is too short.
The use of they/them pronouns get tiresome and annoying, especially when it's his own mate he is using them for without a satisfying explanation.
Before this I was guessing that I would be OK with having 1 new set of pronouns for everyone or 1 new for nonbinary people, but now I'm pretty sure it should not be they/them.

SJW propaganda incoming

same review as the first book, and the last book. Too much SJW nonsense. No problem with alternative lifestyles at all but the fact that it's brought up and shoved in my face bothers me.
