About this listen

Is your anxiety kicking your teen's butt? Are they tired of boring, long self-help books that do anything but help? Are they annoyed by suggestions that show the author doesn't really get anxiety?

I get it. I also get anxiety. I have lived it and so have the thousands of kids I have helped in my therapy practice. Until you have lived it, you will never understand anxiety's insidious moves. Anxiety Sucks! is short and to the point. You are welcome. Have them listen to it. Practice it. Repeat.

Kids don't want long, boring books on anxiety. In my practice parents will often ask for book suggestions. I provide them. They buy them. The kids never listen to them. Trust me, I know. I ask the kids. I finally decided to write my own book that is short, to the point and offers a death blow to the anxiety dictator living in their head. A book I know kids will be able to get through in one or two sittings. A book that will teach kids how their little dictator rules their mind and tricks them into making their anxiety grow. And finally, a book that will help them develop mad skills to counterattack their dictator and show him who is boss.

Every kid being bullied by anxiety should be armed with the skills this book provides. Every parent raising an anxious kid should listen to this and gain insight into what their kids are going through each day.

Practical tips for this worried mom

Thank you! I am so much more hopeful I can help my teens because of your book! I listened in its entirety and am prepared to invite my 2 teens to listen along with me. I know they may resist at first, but this audible is so engaging and the characters the narrator uses are so relatable that I'm really hopeful my kids will join me in begging our journey to demystify their anxieties!

Just what the doctor ordered...literally.

A counselor recently recommended this for my daughter. I listened to it first. And I must say I'm impressed and challenged!!! Yes, I'm the genetic component. And, sadly, the one who fed the dictator the most. But we are fighting back!!! And the tools in this book really give me hope that we will win. I'll be sharing with others. But my daughter first.

Great for parents too

The dictator is powerful on my spouse side, and I am unfamiliar with the tactics and experience my spouse and children feel. This book helped me understand and gave a common language for us when the dictator tries to over take them.

Anxiety Sucks, Rocks !

This book makes the topic of teen anxiety SO approachable. It points out specific facts surrounding anxiety, but even better it provides guidance and tools that teens and families can talk about and implement. Her reading style is upbeat and fun, but takes the time to handle this serious topic.

Creepy performance

I wanted to listen to this before I gave it to my 14-year-old daughter. First of all within the first 60 seconds she refers to your anxiety as a dictator or dick. Huge turn off! Not what I want my 14-year-old to be hearing. She also says you can blame your parents for your anxiety and while I get what’s she trying to get at (heredity), it’s poorly communicated. Third, her voice is very creepy throughout the book. She speaks in a low spooky voice that’s just weird and distracting.
