Publisher's summary

They’ve messed with the wrong woman. Aileen’s got a city to run—its shady part, in any case. Abducted and whisked away from Locksville, she refuses to be a pawn in powerful players’ games. She most definitely is not a damsel in distress and needs no freakin knights in shining armor to come to her rescue. Alas, her best-laid escape plans misfire, landing her in even hotter waters far away from home. Aileen must find her footing in an unfamiliar, unforgiving society, fighting tooth and nail to survive.

Bo, Aileen’s sharp and grumpy advisor, would move mountains to find her, his limp and aversion to violence be damned to the Seven Hells! He wouldn’t trust anyone else with the impossible search for the most important person in his life.

Ajinder, executive protection specialist, won’t tolerate his principal being taken—by someone other than himself. He is no stranger to dispensing violence and doesn’t shy away from being on its receiving end. With his motivation stretching beyond pure professionalism, woe to those who question his skills and determination.

Will their grit, smarts, ruthless single-mindedness, and game-changing technology be enough to find Aileen before it’s too late?

As & When is Book 2 of The E Apocrypha.

Meet familiar faces from Lost & Found. Return to Locksville, New Kowloon, The Station, as well as discover new corners of the world that had lost all technology.

Content warnings: occasional coarse language, non-gratuitous violence, mild (implied) sensual descriptions.

As & When Book 2 of The E Apocrypha

I really enjoyed Book 2 of the E Apocrypha! I found it to be a quick read and refreshingly different instead of just being more of the (perfectly good) same.

With the introduction of new characters (expanding the universe of the book series dramatically), and the ability to jump right into a fresh storyline mid-series without having to know everything about the first book; whether you’ve read and enjoyed Lost and Found or not, the author introduces us to another facet of Locksville and the changing attitudes and survival strategies of the people living there.

It tells a personal story that takes place in a now familiar setting, that nevertheless can still surprise the reader. The plot is original and fully self-contained, woven into the series' post-apocalyptic world: it's not just another never-ending series where books are without beginning or a pronounced end.

The main protagonists Aileen (refuses to fall prey to her kidnappers) takes you along on an adventurous journey through relatable saga full of plot twists and engaging developments, recognizable geo places, interesting plot twists to the story. Meanwhile, her advisor Bo and protection specialist Ajinder set about a ruthless rescue mission in a dystopian world where the right technology is rare enough to command a dangerous price.

Better than the first book

After listening to the first book, I wasn't sure if the story would continue with the same characters. I was pleasantly surprised by the new cast. You don't need to have read (or in my case, listened to) the first book to understand this one, but having done so helped me see the bigger picture, which was exciting. This book mainly focuses on three characters and is set in New York, a place I'm very familiar with. Like the first book, each character is easily identifiable and relatable and the narrator does an excellent job giving each character its own voice. I appreciated that this book didn't switch between different POVs as often as the first book did, possibly because there are fewer characters to follow. It's a great standalone book set in a beautifully crafted world, and I'm excited to meet more characters in future books.

A punchy and fierce sequel!

“As & When” by Alex Andre brings sharp writing and a whirlwind of action that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Kristiana Rice’s narration is on point, capturing every bit of Aileen’s fire as she proves she’s “not a damsel in distress” while navigating danger in unfamiliar territory. A punchy and fierce sequel, with unforgettable characters and top-tier storytelling!
