Traumatized by the bombing of Dresden at the time he had been imprisoned, Pilgrim drifts through all events and history, sometimes deeply implicated, sometimes a witness. He is surrounded by Vonnegut's usual large cast of continuing characters (notably here the hack science fiction writer Kilgore Trout and the alien Tralfamadorians, who oversee his life and remind him constantly that there is no causation, no order, no motive to existence).

A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

Story
Alice's journey begins as all good journeys do: hitting on the sales guy at REI. After a tumultuous breakup, a quick career transition, family upheaval, and a sobriety journey that didn't fix her life quite as much as she expected it to, Alice decides that the only way to solve all her problems is to hike the Pacific Crest Trail. But as she begins preparing for the months-long quest, she realizes the answers she's seeking might not be on top of a snow-covered mountain. Especially since she just learned there was snow in California.

Hilarious!
Where does Backward Compatible rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a funny one. As a fairly new listener to audiobooks (I traditionally like printed word), I was able to be taken into the minds of the characters brought to life by the narrators!

The dorkiness of the characters are brought to life and make it hilarious!

So much geeky fun!
This book was an absolute blast. I hadn't read anything by the authors before and didn't know what to expect, but I found myself grinning ear to ear in the first ten minutes. This is a smart, snarky, sarcastic, totally gamer-geek with a good helping of other fandoms romance. The romancey bits are wonderfully, refreshingly free of the typical romance tropes. They might even be anti-trope (and yay, ace--or demi?--character!) Quite a bit is actually unromantic, in a romantic sort of awkward gamer way? I'm not even sure, except I loved it. It's pretty much an authentic gamer romance--and not of the LitRPG variety, but hardcore gamers in the real world. The authors nailed gamer speak!
One thing I didn't quite enjoy was how mean the characters were sometimes. Sarcasm is definitely a part of gamer culture, but it was sometimes hard hearing people I was growing to love always bashing each other. In a loving way, but still.
And I loved the side quest! That was a blast!
Overall, this was one of my favorite reads in a while. So much fun!

So darn cute
This beautiful story of young, geeky romance made me smile the whole time I listened to Angel's sweet voice narrate it. Well, almost the whole time. There were some tough spots in there for the main characters but they pull through. I won't spoil too much! Great summer listen.

What a wonderful listen!!
This book was so special that when it ended, I had to thank the book gods for letting me find it. I. Loved. It.
I'm not a gamer so some of the awesomeness of this book was lost on me. I am a bit of a nerd though so that aspect I could totally relate to and relish in.
George and Katie are the two nerds front and center but the supporting cast, not the least of which was Lanyon, made this listen something special. A new game, a guest for greatness and romance...there's nothing better.
The narrators were incredible!!! The story shifts POV's so duo narrators was a good call. What makes these two next-level is that they cross-pollinated - Clark took on the female voices during George's POV; Peters took on the male voices during Katie's POV. It was probably a serious effort to coordinate but it paid off!!!!!
This story was a perfect escape with no angst and great characters.

Probably Gamers would enjoy this more?
A lot of the lingo is geared towards gamers, which I am not and would probably land better if you understood the references. Otherwise it was a cute NA romance of epic geeky proportions.
