About this listen

Bastian had to have been the most handsome man that Katherine had ever met. It really was unfortunate that he was also the most stubborn, controlling, downright infuriating jackass she'd ever known as well. Oh, and there was the fact that he was a werewolf - a werewolf who has bitten her.

Sixteen-year-old Katherine Mayes had never believed in mythological creatures like werewolves or mermaids - certainly not those sparkly vampires that her friend Abby was obsessed with. Even when she's bitten by a massive animal after a reckless night of teenage adventure and her body begins to change in mystifying ways, she can't force herself to believe in what she's convinced is impossible. Little does she realize, she's been infected with a disease a little more permanent than the rabies she feels fortunate to have not contracted - lycanthropy.

Her fierce denial is soundly shattered, however, when she is simultaneously saved and kidnapped by Bastian and his pack. Forced to leave small-town Iowa behind and adjust to their way of life in a hidden society, Katherine must also deal with fighting the pull she feels towards the man - or wolf, rather - who has bitten her and disrupted her life so completely.

Good

I liked the story. It’s YA in nature but it finally grabbed my attention towards the end. I’m intrigued on how the characters love for one another will bloom.

loved this book!

I loved this book. Reading some of the reviews make you think the narrator isn't that good or the story is too simple and played out, but it's not. its something you can listen to in the background and still like and engage in. The main characters are cute. Katherine does get on my nerves sometimes with her attitude and her "I'll show him" type of attitude, but it just gives her that type of fire that I like in my female characters. Will definitely read again.

Pace could be shorter

I really did enjoy this book. Catherine was a bit too immature for me. It was the very last chapter before they closed all the loopholes. However, despite some parts being very predictable, I did enjoy the twists.

Good and short. Perfect for a weekend read.

Nice romance albeit following the usual contrast formula. Kept me well engaged. Very entertaining read.

teenage angst.

Definitely a story of young love, soulmates, and youthful rash thinking.
A hidden society and the complexities of its continued existence in a modern world.
Overall a good start and the series characters mature grow and adapt in the two. following books..
Worth reading or listening to bettEr yet if both.

Over all enjoyable.

I'm going to start off by saying I listened to this book non stop... Not joking, I started and finished the book in one day. With books like these I love world and character building. Really getting to know the inner workings of the relationships between people and pack/ political dynamics. This book had all that going for it and it was an easy read. Where I struggled is that I believe the main character never quite learned from her mistakes. Her inability to read social situations and needing everything spelled out for her. The teenage " I can take care of myself!" was getting old. The alpha never realized he was being an over baring ass. There was an extreme lack of communication on everyones part, like Hello has anyone ever heard of a cell phone! Before she got bitten did she really not have a life to where her loved ones wouldn't go looking for her?? Also the whole situation with Cane at the very end was a big surprise and not a good one. He totally could have come into the story as a bad guy much sooner, the ending of Bastians back storyline wouldn't have been so abrupt. Aaaaaaand I didn't even get the satisfaction of hearing him die!

Enjoyable story

I enjoyed this story for the most part, but took a star because I didn’t always like how Bastian treated Katherine.

I thought the performance of the audio book was excellent.
