Publisher's summary

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger...or in Jenna's case, it made her a Goddess.

Jenna was the quiet girl of her small village. She kept to herself, did her work, and dreamed of the day her adventure would begin. She was handy with a sword and quick witted, but she couldn't leave.... She wasn't ready.

Without warning, a mysterious fire decimates her village, forcing Jenna to flee with a man she hardly knows. She soon finds out that he has dark secrets of his own.

Two secret worlds clash around her, and Jenna is forced into a world of Gods, magic, and power. Throughout it all, Jenna discovers a power within her that few can fathom. Will it be enough to save her?

Born of Fire and Flood is the first installation of the Becoming the Goddess series. It is a fast-paced romantic fantasy, with tones of epic and dark fantasy.

An Enchanting Adventure

Jenna is an 18 year old orphan who has been living with her Uncle Rufus and helping in his inn for the last 10 years. She's been preparing to leave on an adventure ever since she arrived but just never seems quite ready to leave. Suddenly she is forced to run and her adventure begins. In the beginning I found the reader's style distracting. he seemed to pause at odd times. As the action picked up and I became involved in the story, I no longer noticed any distractions. Disclosure: I received this audio recording for review purposes but I have attempted to give an honest review.

Well written

Well written tale that is well paced. Narration is well executed and the difference between characters is fairly obvious. I really enjoyed being kept at arms length from what you really want to know until the last possible second.

Parents: intimate relationships and moderate language (one Fbomb as well) so basically for 18+

Original Fantasy

The battle of good versus evil or in the case, Water vs. Fire. Our female protagonist, Jenna, is a bit clueless early on but slowly comes around to power she holds. A pair of brothers battle each other for Jenna's attentions, but for different reasons. The climatic conclusion is epic, yet leaves a wide door open for Book 2. Recommended...

Great audio book

I really really enjoyed this audio book! It had a little of bit everything. Fantasy, magic, revenge, romance and adventure! Hope to read on to see what comes next! Oh, and that ending, didn’t see it coming!

Interesting premise and promising sequel

When I read the synopsis the book looked interesting; a girl’s journey into a new universe of magic. Becoming a Goddess among the way? Intriguing!
The book start a bit slow and picks up closer to the end. I found the relationship development really sudden with no real reason why they are attracted to each other. Still- not a deal breaker for me. I carried on. The villain shows an interest in Jenna and I am really hopeful to see some possible love development there. The villain looks to be the most interesting character in the story so far and I am hoping to see more of him in the next installment.

I have to lower my review for the natation however. Perhaps it’s just not for me but I had a real hard time following the story. I had to restart multiple time because I was lost in the story and had no idea how I got there. The narration speed and intonation seems to change during the book and I was pondering if more than one person was reading at time. I got used to it after a while.

All in all, once the book was further along, I enjoyed it. Will probably pick up the sequel on Kindle. I am quite curious about what will happen to Jenna.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Good story but...

I really enjoyed the story and I’m eager for the sequel, however I had a hard time enjoying the narration. Even if I struggled with the narration the book had great entertainment value for me, and I got used to the narration after a while so all in all I’d recommend this book for fantasy lovers. The thing that got to me with the narration is that while narrating the storytelling I felt it was very staccato reading, but then again I actually liked the voice acting.

I got some flashbacks to “Avatar the last airbender “ listening to this book, if I’m to make a comparison.

Enjoyable story

The story was good. A little adventure, a little romance, a little fantasy. The narration was a little stilted. Overall enjoyable.

A Rising Star

Or should I say a rising flame. Great Start on this series. A novice learning control, brothers battling. I hope they finally get past the hurt and work together.
Narration was also great. Looking forward to seeing more from this combination.
Side note: one grandma to another, we know a little dirt is a mountain in the making.

Coming into power

This was a great story about a girl being inducted into a hidden world after the destruction of her village and torn between two feuding men with the power of fire in their veins. It reminded me a bit of Twilight, only with elemental magic rather than vampires and werewolves, and with a bit stronger willed girl stuck in the middle. I really enjoyed the narration, they did a good job keeping the separate characters defined.

How to be a Water Goddess!

This was a good story about Jenna who lives in a small village with here uncle. Jenna does not know it yet, but she has magic in her blood that lets her control water. Oliver comes into here life and she falls madly in Love. Oliver is an Fire adept and is on the run. The story seems to be romantic in many ways but Jenna is very young and nieve. I received this Audio book for free in exchange for an unbiased review. Good Story! Worth a credit!
