Publisher's summary

I’m the shadows that reach out and take a bite. No one sees me coming, which is why I’m sent to do the things even our fearless leader won’t touch.

After months of watching our enemies, it’s time to take them out. I’m ready to feel their blood on my hands, their worthless lives ground to dust.

But I don’t get the chance when a dark haired beauty comes crashing into my plans, seeking sanctuary from our enemies. Now I’m stuck on guard duty, babysitting a mafia princess.

As tensions rise, the flames of desire flicker between us. We shouldn’t cross that line.

I’m too dark, cruel, and sinister for her.

I swear I’ll watch over her, protect her from anyone and anything. But there’s one thing I can’t protect her from: me.

This is a complete standalone within the series and contains dark themes that may not be suitable for all listeners.

eh I don't know how to feel

the female narrator is very monotoned and make the emotions dull but other than that good book with some plot holes (to my knowledge I didn't read the series just this one )

Girl Voice

I liked the voice of the guy and the story was great but whoever read the part of Selena always sounded like she was asking a question at the end of every sentence. it was hard to not notice or get into Selenas part.

not as good as book 3

but still not as awful as the first pair. thankfully I think I can imagine how the series will progress, we'll enough, so I'm not aggravated to stop here.

Good story, bad narrators

I’m not sure how this narrator got hired for this but, just awful. IF she narrates anything, it shouldn’t be a crime family.

story is ok. shedlock does great. Kelly not so muc

the woman Kelly reads the book.....oddly. like she doesn't know when a sentence ends and seems to detached from the story. I feel like if shedlock did everything himself, it probably would have been a lot better. FMC is a hypocrite though....and clueless

Female narrator 👎

The female narrators inflections during words & sentences isn’t natural in any way, shape, or form. It’s incredibly distracting. I get lost wondering why she speaks/reads this way.

So sad

Human trafficking is a horrible crime and against children is even more horrible. I’m glad he found happiness

Female narrator is terrible but Shedlock is amazing

The female narrator doesn’t allow you to fall into the story. The inflections are all off and her close is shaky. Almost like she’s suffering from ALS. It’s a shame because Aaron Shedlock is an amazing narrator. I couldn’t even finish the story because of her voice.

Hard to keep listening with female narrator

Shedlock is an amazing narrator. Kelly is almost whiny-constantly. The female character in this book should’ve been a tough female councilwoman. Not a whiny, scared, delicate princess. Enjoyed the storyline but I’m not sure I can take much more of this voice.

Meghan Kelly is awful narrator

The actual story was not bad. The male narrator was pretty much on point. I will never pay for any book that has Meghan Kelly
as narrator. Has to be included in
membership.
The writers should look at the reviews related to her and use someone else.
