Publisher's summary

Alex thought she had married the man of her dreams: successful, gorgeous, and delighted by her small-town charm. When he walks out six months later, proclaiming to have 'found himself' (with the help of a stunning yoga teacher), she 'finds herself' alone in an unfamiliar city, vengefully drinking through his prized wine collection, living on takeout, and refusing to answer the door. When this fails to cure her broken heart and bruised ego, she reluctantly allows her new friends to intervene. Slowly, Alex learns to define success on her own terms; she discovers the secret to love in all its forms, and the perfect flying crow pose, one breath at a time.

Critic reviews

"I love this book.... Bishop writes with Tina Fey snark, Mary Karr toughness, and Zadie Smith soul. You owe it to yourself to get your digital mitts on this e-book. Love, loss, hot tears, cold pizza; resentment, redemption, and the sweet rescue of enduring friendships. Oh, yeah...and enough funny stuff about yoga to almost make us forget how damned good it is for body and soul." (Bruce Cummings, former writer and senior producer, NBC Nightly News)

I want to be Alex's friend!

Where does Breathe rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book hit and played with my heart strings, as I too went through a similar breakup, just in time to find this book and it helped me get back to my yoga practice.

What other book might you compare Breathe to and why?

"May I be happy"... Another beautiful story about how yoga cleans ones mind...

Which character – as performed by Teri Clark Linden – was your favorite?

Probably her silly, crazy friend Haley...we all have one of those...

Any additional comments?

Read this light hearted book, if not to do anything g but to remind you to listen to your gut ....and breathe!
I'd love more books like this one!

Great story but horrid narration

I sped up the pace of the reading in order to make up for some of the strange narrational hesitations, which helped but could not overcome all of the breaks, weird pronunciations or down right choppy speech.
The story is light hearted and lovely, I couldn't stop listening as I wanted to know how it ended, just wish I had read this one and not listened to it even though that is not the recommended way to get through a book while driving.

Love the story, didn't love the narration

What did you like best about this story?

I loved that the main character was a "real" person with flaws and struggles. I enjoyed seeing her go from not wanting anything to do with yoga, to going a bit crazy with it, then back to a happy medium. I loved listening to this at the end of the night. It was captivating enough to keep my attention but not overly intense to keep me up all night. I hope more authors decide to write "Yoga Fiction."

What didn’t you like about Teri Clark Linden’s performance?

It felt very robotic. It was like listening to Siri read a book.

good story, strange narration

i really liked the developement of the character. Pity, that the narrator is really weak. it took me hours to get used to the artificial and slow reading.
