A great conclusion To a trilogy

An enjoyable conclusion to a book series

It wrapped up all the major and secondary plot lines well

I would recommend this book series to anybody who enjoys adventure fantasy

I enjoyed all three books in the series
And recommend this author to anyone who enjoys stories with a little more grit and fantasy worlds that seem Like real places And characters with real world problems

Great Renaissance fantasy

I love Miles Cameron; his strengths are definitely his colorful side characters, his incredible understanding and description of sword combat, and his flavorful, albeit inconsistent, magic system. I recently finished his Traitor Son cycle, where you see all of the above elements combined with a rich world, incredible history, and a master plan five books in the making.

In this series, you get all of the above, but…less of it? I feel like all the nuts and bolts are present, and you get a satisfying and fun series, but it is not the masterwork that the Traitor Son cycle is. It’s still a lot of fun, and you’ll love every moment of it. Much better than any other Renaissance/Napoleonic fantasy I’ve read.

Just as good on the third listen

An epic fantasy series with a good plot, and good character development. It left me wanting more in the best way. Mark Meadows was excellent. One of my favorite narrations.

Miles Cameron is the Best …

fantasy novelist of his generation. I’ve read 100s of fantasy novels in the last few years. Mr Cameron is the best. His Traitor Son series and this Masters and Mages series are the both in the top 5 series of the 2000s. And probably ever.

His ability to build complex multi-book plots with numerous important characters that consistently develop and evolve is second to none.

And his description of combat and magery is unparalleled. He clearly has a deep background in pre-firearm combat and warfare. His description of both one on one combat and large scale warfare is … Art…. and a reason alone to read his books.

If only he could produce a novel a month… I might be satisfied.
