About this listen
Cooper-
There was a time in my life when I allowed myself too much. Too much booze, too much partying, just… too much. Four years ago I pulled myself away from it all, and have been living a life with very little indulgence since. But something about this gorgeous, sweet firefighter makes me want to give in to everything he has to offer. With the threat of a dangerous arsonist out there, it’s my job to stop them. When I discover he may be connected to it all, will we be able to survive? Or will our newly ignited relationship go up in flames?
Tatum-
I’m a man who needs control. The few times that I’ve allowed myself to let go, everything in my life began to spiral. The sexy and mysterious detective I’ve been lusting over for months makes me want to surrender all of that control to him. I know that by giving into our undeniable desires, it'll end with me alone and heartbroken. But it feels as if he's left me with no choice. So until the flames of our passion die down, I’m going to enjoy the burn.

Living in a year around Christmas town has its drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It's why I like to hibernate away in my cave - I mean housekeeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits. And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest - which she was determined to win.

A Solid MM Romance

A Fiery Hot Romance! Fantastic Story & Narration🎧
I enjoyed this book immensely, the story drew me in immediately, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire time. The characters are realistic, relatable, and easy to connect with. Tatum, a firefighter, has had his eye on Cooper, a police detective, but did not appear to be interested and when the two meet after Tatum’s car broke down, he made himself perfectly clear. He was interested, but there would only be one night because he was not interested in having a relationship. So the two spend a steamy night together and Cooper was gone by morning, but Tatum knew the deal, well he thought he did. The chemistry between the two was undeniable and Cooper could not only deny himself for so long, and the two spend time together again. Cooper is investigating several suspicious fires, and a photo gives him and his partner an idea of where to look for the arsonist, which hits close to home and it gets complicated. I enjoyed watching Tatum and Cooper dance around each other and then finally get their act together to be together, also like watching the arson investigation unfold. I loved the complexity of the characters and all the layers of the story, the drama is non-stop and there is some angst, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. This was my first book written by JJ Grice and I am looking forward to checking out more of her books. Thank you for this great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Michael Norman Johnson and Theo Sinclair were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of their personality, giving each their own voice, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration elevates this story to another level. Thank you for another amazing story.

Save us from meddlesome females!
What I didn't like first: I feel sorry for gay men who have females in their lives that constantly inquire about their dating or lack of dating and when they aren't inquiring about their dating they are constantly attempt to set these men up on blind dates...at least that is the experience of Tatum and Cooper. I probably gritted my teeth more than they did every time this appeared in a scene. I know they mean well...but damn! Other than the meddlesome females the only other thing that was annoying As F.@.ck was the use of "baby boy" 🙄 I cringed every time I heard that so called endearment... it just doesn't fit Tatum. Maybe if Tatum was a "twink"? Anywho...these were annoying but did not take away from the story.
JJ Grice is new to me and as I did enjoy this title I wouldn't mind checking out more of Grice's work in the future. " Burn it Down" did live up to it's title and the performance was smoking 🔥. Theo Sinclair is a favorite of mine that I follow so he is why I decided to give this title a shot and I was not disappointed. Michael Norman Johnson also had great performance...as long as he wasn't saying "baby boy" lol...

Swoony and sweet
Tatum and Cooper stole my heart! JJ Grice is new to me and I was happily surprised to listen to this well written book with just the right balance of suspense and passion. Tatum and Cooper are both protectors who have not had much luck with love in the past and have had silent crushes on each other for a long time but their work threw them into the line of fire and love despite their best efforts to stay away. Their passion is explosive and kinky and there is enough mystery and danger in the story to make me listen to the whole book in one day. Theo Sinclair is fast becoming one of my favorite narrators. He and Michael Norman Johnson did a great job giving this romance just the right amount of spice and angst. Highly recommend it to MM rom lovers!

Full of Suspense...
3.5 Stars
Burn It Down was my first book by J.J. Grice and it was an enjoyable read. This was a fast paced one night stand, fire fighter/detective story with all the feels, angst, humor and suspense. It had drama and steam. I really enjoyed the the relationship between Cooper and Tatum. Although I did find the pet name a bit cringe worthy.
Michael Norman Johnson and Theo Sinclair did a good job portraying these characters.

Friends with benefits
Tatum and Cooper both have busy lives. Tatum is a firefighter and Cooper a detective. There is also an arsonist that is getting more and more destructive as time passes. Cooper and Tatum have a friend’s with benefits thing. When Tatum finds out Cooper is keeping things from him the betrayal hurts more than a friend’s with benefits situation should allow. Then Cooper gets caught up in a fire Tatum just knows the arsonist is to blame.

Sooo so sweet.
The hot detective and the firefighter—how fun! Both leads were incredibly sweet, had just enough baggage, and mostly supportive families. (One did have some extended relatives who were homophobes and it packed just enough drama.)
I ended up listening to this in one sitting, being invested—it made the time pass quickly and I wish I had more in this world to binge!
Set in Texas.
A side of mystery.
Work acquaintances > to FWB > to … more.
Recovering alcoholic lead.
B0ndage.
Just a bit of danger and suspense.
Second chance at love … for both leads.
Ultimately, this was a super sweet read and I hope to read more by this author.
4 stars.

Burn It Down is a MM romantic suspense novel. This was my first read by this author and it was enjoyable.
Cooper and Tatum’s story held my attention. You get suspense, intense chemistry, drama and action. The term of endearment was cringeworthy, but didn’t take away from the story.
Theo Sinclair and Michael Norman Johnson did a nice job narrating their story.
