About this listen

Cauldrons Call, by New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby, is the highly anticipated second book in the Curse of the Blood Moon series.

Breena has known Giles all her life—and has loved him for nearly as long. Linked by the ties of family and coven, Breena has had a lifetime to discover everything there is to know about him. His intelligence and specialization in crystals and gems are truly things to admire, but it’s how he smiles at her that really makes her cauldron bubble. Too bad he’s completely oblivious.

Giles isn’t as oblivious as Breena thinks he is. A powerful witch, he’s spent most of his life hiding his true feelings from her, but he can’t ignore the fact that she’s hurting and plagued by the same nightmares that haunt him every night. So, getting her to move in with him so he can do just that seems like simple common sense. The hard part will be resisting the way Breena makes him feel.

But evil has invaded their world, and it has the power to kill every witch in Salem. Breena has no time to wallow in what might have been and Giles desire to protect her is stronger than the power contained in his crystals. Together they must lift the curse of the blood moon before time runs out. If they can’t, the people Breena loves the most are all in danger. It will take every skill she’s honed as a witch to protect what’s hers and the man who cast a spell on her heart.

Will they have time to kindle their love for each other, or will the clock run out at the hands of fate?

4 ‘You Are My Home’ Stars

Awww… What a wonderful and ghostly read! And what a delightful pairing, Breena and Giles are so perfectly matched it’s a wonder that it took them so long to ‘discover’ one another! Ms. Proby has me addicted to her brand of supernatural romance!

Cauldrons Call is the perfect follow up to Hallows End, because it continues right after the events of the first book, while giving us insight into Breena and Giles’ love story. I’m so glad that Lorelei spilled the beans on Hallows End, because without her ‘indiscretion’ I don’t think we would have gotten this romance so soon – though not soon enough – because apparently Breena’s thought to be unrequited lifetime crush for Giles isn’t one sided at all, he just hadn’t allow himself to see what was right in front of him, but once his eyes were open, he was all in!

Kristen Proby manages to capture seemingly effortlessly this aura of mystic and supernatural vibes, that left me honestly creeped out, in the best of ways, while reading this book alone in the dark, on the late hours of the night. It gave me goosebumps while doing so, so kudos to the author for giving us this ghostly atmosphere! Much like her first Paranormal series, I love that in The Curse of The Blood Moon we have a conduit of global mystery/suspense that binds all the storylines, while showing us each of the couples’ love tale. I was completely immersed in extra spooky, sexy and lovely read, and can’t wait for Lorelei and Xander, and the summit of this series, I’m dying of curiosity to see what happens next!

Absolutely loved it!

Audio review: this is my second read of this story, first on audiobook. I can’t say enough good things about these actors. They are absolutely perfect for the story of these six witches. I can’t wait to read book 3.

Content review:

I’m running out of superlatives for Kristen Proby’s books!!!! I’m going to have to switch to exclamation points LOL!! Book 2 is the Curse of the Blood Moon series is everything you could hope for and then some. Cauldron’s Call finds a different couple from our Circle of Six at the heart of the saga. I loved Breena and Giles in Hallows End. Ever since Lorelei spilled the beans about Breena’s crush I’ve been dying to know more.

We start with Breena still effectively avoiding Giles. I mean who wouldn’t when you oh-so-loving cousin outs your unrequited crush on you lifelong (and older) friend? But what will she do when she finds out that it might not be as unrequited as she thought. For Giles’s part, he has his work cut out for him. It’s not even that he has to fight that hard for Breena to give him a chance. He just had to convince her to stay near him long enough to actually say exactly what she wants to hear.

For my part, I am invested in this story. I couldn’t put it down because I love the world that Kristen Proby has built and I just have to know what happens next. My interest is definitely peaked by the hints of future storylines that we get. Much like with Lorelei spilling the beans to Giles about Breena’s crush in book 1, this one gives us glimpses into what awaits Lorelei and X in book 3, Salem’s Song (and have you seen that cover?!?! So gorgeous!). I am definitely hooked and will be back as soon as I can get my hands on it to find out what happened in the past that drove Lorelei and X apart and also what’s in store for our friends as they prepare for the final battle to break the Curse of the Blood Moon to save Hallows End!

Five spooky & swoony stars!!

Full of spooky delights and witchy treats Cauldrons Call was just what I was hoping to get in book two of The Curse of the Blood moon series by Kristen Proby.

I could tell in book one of this series Hallows End that Breena was the cousin with her heart fully invested in the man who was to be hers. There was no hesitancy she was just all in.

Giles on the other hand took some convincing but even I think he knew that Breena as always meant to be his. Whether it was by fate or design once he found out her feelings, he knew that he was all in.

This book picks up close to where book one left off and the cousins know that the evil isn't fully eradicated, but they do believe they have some time. Time to form a plan until the next Samhain but the evil that has been lurking around isn't going to wait, he is going to get what he believes he is owed.

Parts of this book were just a bit of filler, but I found I didn't mind it all. It was still very much a five star listen for me and that could have had something to do with Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor. They did a fantastic job with the narration of the first book so I had no doubts this narration would be just as good.

We only have a few months until the release of Salems Song the last book in the series and Kirsten Proby has hyped up Xander and Lorelei's past so much I am on pins and needles waiting for it.

Excitement!

I like to read stories about witches, ghosts, hauntings around Halloween time. I was thrilled that this trilogy was all ready for me to devour! I couldn't listen fast enough and listened to all 3 books so I could see how it ends. Great story telling that had me holding on to the very end.

Cauldrons Call is all about Breena and Niles. Breena has loved Niles her whole life. Niles had no idea until it was brought to his attention by Breena's cousin. Niles realizes he has always felt something for her. These two, fall in love quickly as evil threatens to harm them. They find out how strong they truly are and that with their friends and family they can take anything on.

Great story loved it!

The narrators did a great job and I couldn't wait to get to book 3!

A great second installment

Breena and Giles are meant to be. Now if they can keep the evil from destroying all of the witches in the coven. This story was brought to life by Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor. I'm looking forward to the next book already.

Cauldrons Call

Yes please more, more. I jumped into this series because of the author. I am sticking to it because the story has me by the throat.

I am invested in Breena and Giles. After being outed by her friends, her feelings for Giles were so obvious to everyone but him. She was feeling all the feels. But also trying to avoid Giles because she was embarrassed. But it opened Giles eyes that she was right in front of his face this whole time.

Then you add the spirit that is trying to harm them and the spell that needs breaking before it's too late and you have one heck of a page turner.

Giles convinces Breena to move in because the spirit isn’t being kind at all and has them all spooked but Breena was taken over once, so she isn’t looking forward to that happening again so she agrees.

The sparks fly and Giles is so patient but also lets her know that he wants her and is willing to do what it takes to prove it.

Fantastic book, I don’t want to give away what happens with the spirit but let's just say book 3 better come out soon because the next couple I neeeeeed to know if they get their HEA!!

The narration is fantastic. I mean SebYo and Samantha are a perfect pairing. I need more of this in my life.

Loved this sweet paranormal romance

Cauldrons Call is KP 2nd book in The Curse of the Blood Moon Series. I don’t read too many PNR but Kristen had this way of just sucking you in. The story is one of love, faith, hope and never giving up or letting fear take over you. Brenna and Giles’ story of one fated mated, friends to lovers, and unrequited love.
Brenna had loved Giles since she was 14, and he had secretly pined over her too. In this book we follow the roller coaster of them trying to ward off and kill the evil spirit that is trying to take over their lives. Together with Lucy, Jonás, Lorelei, and Xander they are trying to brake the spell on Hollows End before time runs out. Loved getting the updates from Lucy and Jonás. And, I can’t wait to read the next Adventure in Salem’s Song where we will get the truth behind Xander and Lorelei’s love story and see if they can all finally defeat the evil spirits. I was lucky enough to read this book but also listen to the audiobook. Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor were amazing in this story. Their character transitions, pace, and diction were on point. They kept me engaged. Definitely recommend the book and audiobook.

Loving this Series

I can't wait for book 3 which will come out in October. Perfect timing as Samhain will begin at sunset on 10/31/23. Totally enjoying the series but I do wish everyone would stop going off alone. There is a killer after you and each of you continue to run errands as if it's safe to go alone instead of being smart and having at least one person with you as back-up. That's not weakness it's smart. Also, Breena's self-doubt is going to get her killed. Even at the end when things happened she brushed them off to her being tired or stressed instead of "See Something, Say Something". As if that's hard to do. Because every time one of them sees something it turns out to be important.

Loving this series!

This is the second book in The Curse of the Blood Moon series and I loved it! If you haven't listened to the first book in this series, Hallows End, you really need to in order to have a full understanding and appreciation of the continuing story and characters. I have enjoyed Kristen Proby's paranormal series and this one is turning out to be just as good. The combination of contemporary characters and paranormal historical characters brings a new twist to a familiar story of witches and ghosts in Salem, MA. Something old, something new, something spooky and something "whew", this book had everything I was looking for and more. Steamy, charming, spooky, romantic, thrilling, and all around satisfying, this book hits the spot.

Sebastian York and Samantha Brentmoor give an incredible performance and are perfectly cast in this unique story and will keep you on the edge of your seat and staying up way too late listening to this book.

Loved it!

Another great addition to The Curse of the Blood Moon series! I absolutely loved Giles and Breena! I just love being in this world! This one played out like a movie in my mind! Although this one is a standalone I would recommend reading Hallows End first to completely understand the storyline! I was hooked from the moment I started this one and didn’t want to put it down! I also bought the audio so I could listen when I couldn’t read! I really enjoyed the audio as well! The narrators were great! Overall a great read that I definitely recommend!!
