Publisher's summary

Life as a Magical Engineer has never been quite as I expected it would be, but the truth is, I wouldn't change it for the world.

Sure, there have been a lot of obstacles. My apartment was blown up, I was kidnapped, my psycho cousin even tried to have me killed. And now, my parents are forcing me to marry someone they picked.

However, I also met some pretty amazing people, helped AMIA dismantle the resistance, and even stopped a coup from happening.

But most of all, I found love.

Charismatic is the final book in the Arcane Mage series, a reverse harem romance with lots of opossum jokes, cursing, and sexual content intended for mature listeners.

I Need More!

But it's not really the end because I'm pretty sure that the spinoff books are going to kick butt!!!

must read series

I'm a big fan of Rh novels this one takes the cake. I have listened to the whole series twice and will definitely keep it on my favorites list to listen again. I like that she's not a traditional heroine. she's smart, sassy, and knows her s*** . She is also clumsy and adorable. you can't help but fall in love with her and her men. I even recommend the spin-off series.

Story didnt hit its potential, fell flat for me

The finale to Char’s love story was good but I think missed the mark for me in a couple ways. I wish there had been more movement on the baddies but I guess the author was waiting to conclude that confrontation in the spinoff story? I also thought some of the build up was pretty anti-climactic in this one and there were still some answers left unsaid/no resolution in relation with Char which was sad. I will say I am super excited for Blair’s story and will be sad to see these guys go!! Hopefully we get lots of cameos too so we see their progression more.

I think the biggest thing I was sad about was there wasnt enough time for Char to super connect with Logan and Theo, again because of things happening in the previous books and how long it took them to finally get together. The chemistry just wasnt where I would want it to be at the end of the book. I feel like we needed one more to really solidify them as couples and to bring this harem to its fullest potential. I almost gave the story 3 stars because of that. This book is primarily about the romance between Char and her men and we lacked that with 25% of the harem. The narration was good so I rounded up to four stars.

Where the plot was good in book 5 it sort of stalled and just poofed for me in this one. We had the big planning session to go after Theo’s matriarch after what she did to her family and it was over right away, not a lot of back and forth or struggle. I mean they planned well but that was a little fizzle for me. We get back to a steamy and funny story, which was nice too. I loved seeing the dynamics between the different guys and Char. They each bring something to the table for her, allowing different parts of herself to be soothed and let free. She is always hilarious and that was no different in the finale again despite some of the confrontations and tough conversations. I did wish there was more interaction between Char and her bestie after everything that happened. I felt like that wasnt resolved fully and would have been a nice touch for Char’s conclusion.

Narration was good as it was in the other audiobooks. I think they would have been spectacular if this was duet but I understand its more pricey of production and get why not all authors can do it. It was still good, the narrators play their same sex characters so well, it's just not as strong when they swap to the opposite sex, especially the male narrator performing the female parts. I will say they did a good job with the different topics in here. The redemption for Theo, the happiness the group finally gets to share, the hilarity of Miss Alma and the reveals for some of the twists from earlier in the series.

Again, can’t wait to dive into Blair’s story, loved the little hints thrown in this series by the author, we know it's gonna be a wild ride regardless haha.

I will miss Charisma and her antics

This book begins immediately after Theo learns about his Soul binding his grandma places on him (And honestly most of their Families are scum) we learn that the reason he was acting the way he was, was because he had two soul binding that were constantly fighting each other. I feel like Theo just got a cop out for all the hurt he had caused over the past 5 years.
I honestly feel like this last book was rushed. There was just too much going on. We had the drama with Theo and his grandma, the council made its self known with much more politics (I get the reasoning behind it we are seeing that the Heirs are trying to change the way of things), the drama with Chars parents and Chars cousin, as well as Andres’s uncle. On top of 2 of the RH members not being settled. It was just too much for a 6 hour read ( I listen to audiobooks)
Lets talk Harem (My favorite topic)
Bast: I will forever love bast. He is everything anyone could ask for in a guy. Sweet compassionate, sexy as hell. I really wish we would have had a few more one on one interactions between him and Char. Im also really disappointed we didn’t get to see him play with his Joystick 😉 no really his MET. There was so much talk throughout the whole series how necromancers don’t have access to METs and that Char has been wanting to make one for Bast for literal books. We finally get to see it and its just given to him? I would have loved to see a dual between all her men. Bast could have actually joined in.
Andres: Sweet, sweet Andres. I love that he seems to be taking on the role as peace maker in the group. He’s honestly hilarious. Seeing him interact with his parents was precious. Getting that touch of normal dating and meeting the parents honestly was the cutest ever.
Logan: I love that he was all in with her and her harem once he realized what he wanted. I feel like Logan got shafted or was a forgotten character. Since there was no drama with him joining the harem he should have been included much sooner. Instead he just felt like an after thought. Also all talk and no game. We got teases many many times of Daddy Logan and I’m the end we got NOTHING. I felt so cheated and I really wish we would have seen more of him
Blaze: I still have mixed feelings about Blaze. The while drama with Char finding out about Her cousin and them breaking up seemed so unnecessary. Instead I would have liked for the Harem to have been settled sooner and us get more interactions with them hanging out and working as a team.
Theo: I’m so conflicted with Theo. I believe he got off super easy. There was basically no groveling. Which I was not okay. Char seemed to just push all the drama of the past under a rug and moved on. Like all we got was a drunken phone call and single conversation in the bedroom that ended in a make out sesh. I fell like the author just wanted guys but didn’t really think it though. Blaze Theo and Logan could have probably only been two people and the story would have barely changed.
All in all I really enjoyed the series as a whole. Im not don’t with Char and her craziness just yet and will probably re read the series a few times over. The series as a whole has very little critics that I can give. Is this a literary master piece? No. but it was Hella entertaining listening to Charismas antics and she did not disappoint
The narration was phenomenal as always. I could almost feel the emotion through the audio. Highly recommended I love the dual narration that we see. it really helps us understand more of the characters since there are 6 main characters and the books are relatively short. We needed their POVs to learn more about them.

this is a 5 star read however

this book really wrapped up 25% of the whole picture and was super frustrating. I know that every reader was wanting this to be a final series and it just felt so rushed. I don’t know if the readers pushed the author into rush writing to get it over with. If Blair’s storyline picks off like I know it will, it didn’t make sense to release a final charisma story without releasing a few of Blair’s and then finishing charisma.

Throughout this series there’s so much more of a bigger picture, so many things brought to light and introduced: the necromancers, the rebellion, the silverstorm’s fall from grace with possibility of losing their head status to a duel, the guys dynamics when all together and ect. The guys had never been all together at any point from a relationship perspective not all under the roof. No day to day living in this new house or day to day living while they were getting the house together for her. I missed the actual resignation of her position at AMIA- how her pseudo dad took it (yes he brought it up in the book but still it was only a thought and not an action at the time it was presented) - that was her life- a huge career in itself and it didn’t get a true end to it. This career led her to where she was in life and it didn’t even get a true closing.

This book brought all of these up and the author said there’d be no cliffhangers- while this wasn’t the emotional cliffhanger that authors do to signal a next book in the series, these unanswered questions felt like a cliffhanger in itself. The cliffhanger is if you want closure you have to read Blair’s book when book 2 finally comes out. And even then you’re not going to get Char’s POV. According to the author that’s the last book.

What I loved about this series was that it was equal parts steamy with depth, and solid characters- a real storyline not muddled with only steam and the steam didn’t take over the storyline when steam was finally introduced. It literally hurts me to say this but this was a super bitter ending to everything that was introduced. There was no closure.

Honestly I feel lied to by the author, she advertised this book on a Facebook readers site as the final book to Char’s happily ever after with no cliff hangers and a completed series. There’s nothing really complete about it. It felt like a rushed book that this author grew bored with writing about this character and completely shorted it.

This capped off the series and it was total let down. I’m a little regretful that I bought all the audiobooks only to have this end on such a craptastic note.
