A wickedly gripping thriller about family secrets, infatuation, and the lies we bury to protect ourselves, from the author of She Lies Close.
Heather Hornne is going home.
Haunted by a childhood tragedy and estranged from her family, Heather finds herself back in Hunther, Wisconsin, after 20 years running from it.
She returns to finally put the past to rest but uncovers another tragedy and finds herself in the beguiling grip of a young woman who knows more of her family secrets than Heather does.
To survive this homecoming, Heather must piece together a toxic history that she long tried to forget.

2 - I want her thesaurus.
3 - Best combination of writer and narrator ever...well, Outlander & Davina Porter...
Good story, wonderful wordsmithing, excellent narration. Give it a try.

I love a good dark thriller, but for me, there is too much evil in the 🌎 right now to stomach this satanic theme. Like many new releases, there is a lot of fun poked at Christianity, and including the quote about Christianity being “no less crazy than Satanism” is a deal breaker. Oh, and of course there was the underlying “cops are pigs” theme, and throw in a little “straight today, maybe lesbian tomorrow”. Aside from that, this book is well narrated and decently written, until the ending, which is absolutely awful.
