Kyle

When my old high school teammate invites me to stay on his family farm, it’s the solution to my financial woes. I never imagined it might also be the answer to my loneliness.

Allen Hale Jr. wasn’t the first number I tried for help. It’s been years since I’ve even thought of him. But he answered on the first ring, and hours later, we’re still talking like we’re 16 again, goofing off after the big game.

I don’t doubt his sincerity when he offers to help. His big heart shines clearly through, even at my most jaded. I don’t think twice about ditching the big city and moving back to the countryside.

The same place I couldn’t get far enough away from when I was younger.

Because I was never much of a country boy. I was prepared to hate every second of life on a farm, just like I did growing up.

But I don’t. There’s every reason I should be miserable and only one reason I’m not.

And his name is Allen Hale Jr

Allen Hale Jr

I know what people whisper about my lack of interest in women and the rumors about me. But the truth is, there’s only one guy who ever made my heart stir. Any interest in men went with him when he drove out of town, and out of my life.

But now he’s back. Not just in my life, but under my roof. Mere feet away. And all the things I ever wanted to say to him come rushing back. And all the reasons I never said them feel less and less important.

Now there’s only one thing that holds me back, one fear that keeps me silent. That if he doesn’t feel the same way, he might leave again. That this time he might leave because of me.

It’s the last thing I want.

And yet risking it might be the only way to get what I do want....

This book is 50,000 words of a rough-and-rugged cowboy and polished city slicker letting their unexpected passion for each other run free. No taming desires here, just uninhibited lust on and off the page. Listeners should be 18 years of age and older!

Kyle and AJ

AJ and Kyle. Lovely friends to lovers romance. AJ is a happy person and I liked his sunny outlook. His pursuit of Kyle is slow and steady. Even when Kyle has distanced himself, he sees it as a time to wait until Kyle is ready. Kyle spends a long time angry and frustrated with his life. I liked who he became when he opened himself up to AJ. I was impressed that Kyle made the effort to mend his relationship with his sister and build one with AJ's dad. The ending was sweet.

The audio version is nicely done. The narrator's deep Texas twang was just right for AJ. I liked his clear voice and pace as he read the book.

Kyle Robbins and AJ Hale are Cuntry Boys

The story was sweet, interesting and absolutely spicy! It meets my criteria of an excellent book of choice.
There was a few times I thought the story could have moved a little faster but other than that a great story to read.

Regarding Narration: the narrator has a great voice but I found his interpretation of AJ way off character. His impression of Kyle and Pops was ok. During the story, again, I don’t believe he captured the concept of the narration.

a sweet and sexy love story

AJ places an ad for help at his family Cattle ranch when his high school teammate and crush Kyle responds to the Facebook ad, AJ immediately hires him on. Kyle left his hometown a decade ago but circumstances have him coming back home to work on a ranch. When the two men reunite, AJ realizes his crush is back but is he willing to get out of the closet and confess his feelings to Kyle and risk running him off? Or does he need to confess and grab hold of everything he ever wanted.
A good love story with great characters to root for their HEA.

Good narration job. The voices fit what my imagination wanted the characters to sound like. Good job bring the story to life.

Good but not great

I liked this story but it didn't grab me like others have. It was a basic story with some good passages.

The narrator's voice was nice but without much emotion. It was hard to stay interested.

A nice contemporary book

"Country Boys" was a good contemporary story. It brought together two characters that break the typical "gay country boy" ideal and gives a new perspective on two guys that fall in love. The narration was good and allowed the listener to get lost in the story. I liked it.

ok read

So the story was okay. It was so slow to start and get going.
I liked A.J. and his dad.
AJ and Kyle were an interesting pair. It was nice hearing each other's point of view and even though the flow to this book was different it was a good read.
I would have liked more about what they were doing during the day on the farm it felt like chunks of the story were missing that I had to make up for my self.
I did love the characters though.

Loved it

This is another great read by Peter Styles, with developed characters (friends to lovers). Kyle and AJ were high school friends. Years later AJ who has an idyllic outlook on life offers a job to Kyle who is unsatisfied with his life. AJ had a school crush on Kyle and his feeling are still strong for Kyle. Both men decided to open up to the possibility of love. I love the transition of AJ character. This is a great story about love, friendship, and patience. The narration was very well done.

The perfect voice for a very good book!

The story is wonderfully written and the characters are well rounded. The main players are loveable caring men who are down to earth. And the extended family, well they have their own quirks. The narrator on the other hand has a voice to die for...He makes me tingly! Well worth the 💰.

A sweet feel good story

This is a wonderful second chance love story about two friends from high school reconnecting. One an owner of the family's ranch and the other in need of a job. Both were scared to admit their feelings for the other back in school and when tragedy almost takes one from the other their true feelings are revealed and love wins.
Narrator Barney Parkwynne does a fantastic job of bringing these two cowboys to life.

Great Story.

This is such a sweet story. AJ and Kyke are just so sweet together. First time listening to Barney Parkwynne and I think he did a great job in bring this story to life. I love it when a narrator pulls me into a story.
