About this listen

They call him the Silent Death, because he kills without sound and leaves none capable of speaking in his wake…

When the empire’s deadliest fae murderer catches her wielding forbidden magic, twenty-year-old Emelin believes her hour has come. Instead, her inhumanly beautiful captor spares her life, but carries her off on his velvet wings into the one place from which no human ever returns:

The heart of the Fae Isles. The treacherous Crimson Court, where the Mother of faekind has ruled unchallenged over fae and humans for decades.

The Silent Death is supposed to be the Mother’s loyal servant, her invincible warrior, her ruthless, soulless killer. But in the shadows he is playing a game of his own, and he needs Emelin’s magic to win it.

If she agrees to work with him, she could free all of humanity. But can she trust a fae male with so much blood on his hands? Worse, when his smouldering dark eyes and dangerous secrets reveal glimpses of the heart behind his murderer’s mask…can she trust herself?

Court of Blood and Bindings is the first book of the Fae Isles series, an enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance featuring a strong-willed heroine and a broody, morally grey hero. It contains a generous dose of smouldering glances, angry yearning, and midnight meetings of the illicit type, as well as other mature themes.

Honest Review from a Man

I was recommended this book from my Girlfriend. I likely never would have listened to it by myself. I Did enjoy the book. The author's writing was intelligent and intriguing. Some very descriptive eye brow raising bedroom scenes.
This book is told from the eyes of one character. 90% of the book is her inner dialogue and that was something I had to get used to. No character swaps or narration. Definitely meant for a women's ears but as a man I did enjoy it and I will be listening to the next books.
I did feel that there wasn't enough lore. Not enough background on the races and magic system. How ever. To do that you would need a main narrator and character swaps to get these things. If the one and only character we hear from in this book doesn't know about it then neither do we and because of that I won't lower my review.
Overall I am pleased with the author's work and I do like her ability to bring the main character to life for me to see in my mind.

Unexpectedly Loved It

I really couldn’t get into the story for the first couple chapters, but then I just fell in love with it. I can’t wait to see where it goes in the next book! Protect Creon at all costs. 😭

Enjoyable

It has been hard to find fantasy books that keep my attention as of late and this one definitely did. I wouldn't call this the best fantasy book ever written but it did the job. I loved the aspect of sign language being used in this book and it is definitely something I personally have not seen in a fantasy book. Great free listen.

9hrs and 30mins in

The Main character has gotten on my last nerve 🙄. I’m bout to quit this book and maybe come back to it later. I cannot believe I spent a credit on this 😡. The best part about this book is the narrator. Don’t waste a credit unless you like a MC that blames all the wrong people for her problems and throws temper tantrums 😐

Captivating romantasy

Riveting start to what is gearing up to be an epic fantasy romance series! The audiobook is so captivating.

This has one of the most unique magic systems based on colors! I loved listening to the characters using their magic and it was described in such a captivating manner.

Oh sweet Creon. I’m not a hugger but I just wanted to hug him like 99.9% of the time. If you cannot resist a truly misunderstood, morally grey MC with a complicated past, you will love Creon. Em was a smart and clever FMC, rightfully suspicious but also realizing there had to be more to the story. She’s cunning and uses others’ perception of her as a weak human plaything against them in the best way.

The introduction of other creatures and characters had me very excited for book 2. And so glad it was already available. If you don’t like waiting for the second book to bring the spice, definitely add this one to your TBR 👀.

Slow start

It took me a long time to really get into it. I felt like the last hour was really the only exciting part. Overall fine though. And the reader is great.
