About this listen

A small-town romantic suspense story from Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry.

Lyla Eden has spent the last few years watching her siblings fall in love. Meanwhile, she’s married to her job. It’s on her hundredth consecutive workday that her sister stages an intervention, kicking Lyla out of her own coffee shop. With nothing else to do, Lyla sets out on her favorite hiking trail.

It’s there that she spots a man washing blood from his hands in a stream. One moment she’s staring at the jagged scar on his face. The next, his hand is around her throat. But by some miracle, he lets her go.

Shaken to her core, Lyla reports the incident to the local police. Two days later, Vance Sutter arrives in town, armed with endless questions and a tarnished badge.

Vance may be ruggedly handsome, but he’s as mysterious as the man he’s hunting. And he’ll be gone from Quincy in a blink. Yet Lyla’s crush is impossible to stop.

No matter how hard Vance tries to ignore it, there’s no denying the chemistry between them. And avoiding Lyla is not an option. After years of chasing dead ends, she’s his only lead to closing the case that haunts his career. So together, they’ll retrace her steps.

To find the scarred man she met beside a crimson river.

5 Star Amazing, Suspenseful and Unexpected

Great book-it wasn’t at all what I expected for Lyla’s book, but really great storyline. I knew there was a twist in the mix of the plot w/McCormick and the reason Vance was hunting him…great build up, & good chemistry between Vance/Lyla. Enjoyed the 2nd bonus epilogue that gave us a little closer for McCormick too. Audiobook was great!

Great story

I really enjoyed this one - although not my favorite of the series. I think it would be so much better with a different female narrator.

The good, the bad, the …

The good; it’s a fabulous Eden story with all the feels.
The bad; it’s not long enough.
The ugly or beautiful (???); when I get settled in Quincy, I’ll let you know. Wait…🤔🤭

My favorite of the series

2nd listen for me and Vance is for sure another book boyfriend and Connor really brings Vance to life. Another perfect 10 for Connor Crais! Lucy Rivers is a much better Lyla than she was Elouise! Story is of course another 10!

Great one !

My favorite of this series! Loved the twists in the story and character development. Good to see all the characters from previous books and hear about what has happened in those stories.

Female narrator 😬

Lucy Rivers please don’t feel the need to over do a male voice… this was a great story, but her voice as Vance felt like a mockery of the character. Conner did a great job as Vance.

Hot cop hunting her almost unaliver!

5⭐️ 3🌶️

📖 I am a huge fan of this latest Eden installment! This has the romantic suspense of Indigo Ridge, the spice that Devney has started bringing out later in the series (like in Jasper Vale), and everything we would have wanted from a lovely Eden sister. Lyla had a bit of a rough go as her sister found love with someone she had a massive crush on — Lyla being the absolute doll she is wasn’t upset or resentful but just embarrassed. She threw herself into work at her cute little coffee/bakery shop and before she knew it her sisters were staging an intervention. While on a hike to get out of the office and enjoy herself she’s almost murdered, but the stranger let’s her go. The next thing she knows, another stranger rolls into town hot on the trail of her attacker. She decides to face her fear and help the newcomer, Vance, track down his suspect. A few hikes, some searching, and Lyla and Vance find that they have some smoking hot chemistry — WOW, Devney really killed the spice in this one!!

Lyla was a sweetie, Vance was a dreamy law enforcement officer trying to redeem himself from the past, and their romance tied in with the suspense was such a perfect combo!

🎧 Lucy Rivers and Connor Crais absolutely crushed this narration! Lucy is in my top 3 fav female narrators and just absolutely dominates this Eden series! She does a great job voicing Lyla and making it clear who is talking when Lyla is chatting with her sisters — she is able to change up her tone enough that you never get confused. And she does a really nice manly voice! Connor is really moving up my favs list, he nailed Vance in this one. His voice sounded fantastic in this narration — it’s always clear but sounds so natural and easy, deep and smooth.

Loved Lyla and Vance!

Oh, Blue...happy sigh. Crimson River by Devney Perry was a suspenseful and steamy small-town romance that captivated my attention and simply ravished my heart. I loved everything about Lyla and Vance's journey to HEA. However, Devney will tug at all your heartstrings to get there. Plus, this may just be my new favorite book in the Edens series.

Lucy Rivers and Connor Crais narrate this audiobook, and both helped me completely get lost in the story in all the best ways. Lucy portrayed Lyla's graceful and confident persona perfectly in an upbeat tone. She also showcased her vulnerable side after a life-changing event happens which made me love Lyla even more. Connor's deep, rich tone was the perfect voice for Vance, the determined, protective, and mysterious, hero which in turn made him ultimately irresistible. (Swoon!) Both narrators were spot on portraying Lyla and Vance's magnetic pull and steamy hot chemistry.

Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a small-town romance with a hot emotionally guarded detective, a fierce coffee shop owner, dangerous hikes in the woods, a murderer on the run, uncovering secrets from the past, catching up with all the Edens (including Matteo!) lots of steamy times, a jaw-dropping climax, and a HEA that will run deep in your heart, then you will love Lyla and Vance's romance. I always look forward to more from Devney Perry.
