Quenches that 2021 Wanderlust

Great little essays about Yellowstone. I'm planning a trip this summer and want to go somewhere, anywhere other than inside my house. This book is a temporary respite for days to come post Covid. Like listening to Nat Geo.

👎🏽👎🏽

I am a hunter and I can’t tolerate people who think you can’t shoot a animal. Otherwise it’s interesting.

Numerous entries by various authors

I wanted to learn more about the animals of YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. This audiobook did help me achieve that goal. The various authors — rangers, animal photographers, wildlife “followers” and experts — share anecdotes about the animal population, and specific long-term residents of the park. Several anecdotes illustrate the danger of getting too close to wild animals. They provide information on how to behave if you encounter a bear or a bison and how to interpret their body language, warning signals, etc. Some of the stories are heartrending, especially when animals are put down because of human interactions. Some of the stories overlap with others in content. Not a bad thing, I guess, but it occasionally felt repetitive and a bit disjointed.
Narration is fine. Content is nothing special in terms of style, but it’s still interesting and informative.

Ready For Your Roadtrip

Delightfully entertaining. Great for a roadtrip and it is a great reminder that our National Parks are still wild places. Great stories and I enjoyed the narration as well.

Great book

I guess for those of us who alredy know how dangerous wild animals can be and also have a healthy respect for them and want only their best it can get a little tiresome to red a book where you feel constantly lectured on these points. I do understand that some people need to be told repeatedly. Aside from this I found the book very entertaining and informative and extremely interesting.

Animal Personalities, the Majesty of Yellowstone

If you could sum up Dangerous Beauty in three words, what would they be?

Yellowstone Life Cycles

What did you like best about this story?

The stories of life in Yellowstone National Park. The personalities of the bears and other animals, the interaction of Nature, Wildlife, the Park Service and visitors. Makes me want to be there too!

Which scene was your favorite?

The first story of Scarface, then the discovery of familial connections!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me appreciate our National Parks, and how lucky we are to have them. And our obligation to preserve them for generations to come.

Yellowstone Heaven for the Nature Lover

Dangerous Beauty was a great listen and justly titled. This is somewhere I've always wanted to visit. Listening to this audiobook and the wonderful stories put me there aside from snapping my own photos. The heartwarming short stories were about bear, bison, moose, wolves, pronghorn sheep, birds, the elements, the majesty, the hazzards, tourists and more. A few of the stories were somewhat frightening, all were fascinating. There were several things (facts) I didn't know and was pleased to learn. I wonder if these were from journal entries or memories. Either way this was a thoroughly enjoyable book by Carolyn Jourdan and Sandy Sisti.

Eric Martin's narration was excellent. He spoke clearly and was easy on the ears. He had a nice tone and was the perfect reader for this audiobook.

interesting and educational

Where does Dangerous Beauty rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Well, it may not rank at the top like a riveting novel, but definitely a great listen for anyone interested in wildlife.

What did you like best about this story?

The true stories of encounters with bears.

What does Eric Martin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The feel that you are really there experiencing it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don't forget there is real danger in getting up-close and personal with wildlife.

Any additional comments?

It would have been nice if there could have been at least 2 narrators to go back and forth between, just because all the stories were not by the same author.
