Not my favorite, but bad voice actress

Not my favorite of the Night World series. the voice actress, however, was atrocious. I couldn't tell any of her male characters apart. she had two voices: timid girl and sultry. No noticeable changing voices between each character. Angel sounded like David who sounded like her dad etc.

I wasn't ready for this!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I wouldn't change anything about this book, it was such a turnaround from the first two books and a spinoff of the 3rd, the entire story was very new and takes your into an entirely different journey about the dead crossing into the physical world, it was a little creepy. I honestly really didn't start to get very into the story line until an hour or so into the book.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Left hanging. This book 4 of the series so it always feels like the story is incomplete but the next book just introduces new characters so your left pretty much just hanging.

Which character – as performed by Renée Raudman – was your favorite?

I like how Rennee Raudman portrays Gillian she keeps her pretty grounded and does a good job evolving with the character from a wimpy social hermit to social butterfly.

Do you think Dark Angel needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Ah, this is so frustrating! Again it seems like every Night World book will keep you hanging until the very last one! GGGRRRR!

Any additional comments?

I learned that the last book "Strange Fate" has been "lost" LJ smith has written it but for some reason or another it has not been published. To my understanding this has been the case for close to 10 years. I am sad to say that at this point, you will be enjoying the Night World stories and characters without the closure a reader, a customer or a fan would expect.

bad narration

U have read all the books. I decided to listen to them while working, cleaning, driving, ect. I couldn't make it through Dark Angel due to the narration. Very disappointed. But the book overall is great.

A Good Reading of a Nostalgic Book

I read this book back when it was first published and just discovered it on Audible. The narrator made some strange choices in emphasis and tone during her reading, but she did a good job otherwise with emotion and differentiating voices for the characters when they spoke to one another. The story is a good one and pretty unique. I remembered it for over 20 years, so that tells you something! Still, I feel like with a few different choices, just a few tweaks, it could have been an amazing story, rather than just a good one.

good story, bad narrator.

90% of the time she seemed to pronounce Gillian's name as 'Julian.' If I hadn't read the book first, I would have been totally confused.

Bad voice acting

While I understand that one voice cannot realistically sound like both sexes, male voices are not automatically low, gravelly, breathy, and creepy. I appreciate the effort, and the regular narration is fine, but the voice acting is either over exaggerated or simply cringe inducing.
