Publisher's summary

This book is a collection of two novellas, Madhouse and Shifter, followed by a full-length novel titled Heaven’s Peak. The stories are separate from each other’s narratives and can be listened to in any order.

Madhouse: Faced with his parents' divorce, 11-year-old Lucas runs away from home in the hope that his family will get back together to find him. While walking through the empty streets, he is picked up by a mysterious woman, who offers to take care of him and provide him with a loving family.

The boy then wakes up in shackles, confined to a bed in a decrepit house in the middle of nowhere and will have to face his deepest fears in order to survive in his new home.

Shifter: Clancy Reynolds is about to propose to the woman of his dreams, but she dumps him for another man before he has the chance. Blinded by rage, he decides to take matters in his own hands. The plan ends in tragedy, and he's sent to a psychiatric hospital where his caretakers ask him to be part of a secret experiment.

In exchange, he will have his freedom if he survives. Clancy tries to take a hold of his sanity as he descends into madness. Could he really go back like he was before, or will he succumb to his most twisted desires?

Heaven’s Peak: After the tragic death of his mother, teenage photographer Kevin Miller moves to a new town with his alcoholic father and eight-year-old sister in the hope of bringing the family together and starting over.

However, everything changes when Kevin witnesses his sister being kidnapped by a bizarre creature. The police is skeptical of his story, so he decides to unveil the mysteries surrounding the town on his own.

On the other side of the investigation, FBI agent Norman James will do anything to solve the baffling case, except believe a traumatized teenager's nonsense. Meanwhile, newscasts predict a blizzard approaching in the next couple of days as people in the town begin to behave strangely.

Will they be able to find the little girl before Heaven's Peak is consumed by darkness?

Great stories to give you chills

Madhouse was awesome! Lucas was an amazing character and I shudder just thinking about the psychos he dealt with!
Shifter was well written and had a few good scares but was more tame than the other stories in this collection.
Heavens Peak is the crown jewel of this set! Kevin is a well developed character and the things Miguel did to this poor kid to terrify him and the reader were awesome!
Highly recommend this!!! I have a new favorite author!

3 stories to creep you out

This volume of 2 short stories and 1 novel was an intense and interesting read. The first story was fast paced with a clever storyline and surprising ending. The second story had some Blake Crouch elements to it. The 2nd story's narrator took some getting used to , but the story itself was creepy and not your average run of the mill. The third story had a great plot with unexpected moments. Overall it was a good book and I look forward to reading more of this author's future work.
