Publisher's summary

One love. One destiny. But it only takes one person to bring the house of cards tumbling down…

Cadence
Seventeen years ago, Fitz Quinn stole my heart.
He took my innocence, then left me broken.
When a twist of fate brought us together again, I quickly learned even time couldn’t dim our chemistry.
Fitz was sexier than ever—successful and provocative.
He became the man I always knew he would be, and the heat between us quickly became unbearable.
Despite the promise I made to myself, the walls to my heart started to crumble.
Before I could stop it, I fell for him all over again.
But things are so much more complicated now.
Live are at stake.
I need to decide if sacrificing my values is worth being with the only man I have ever loved.

Fitz
They call me Washington’s fixer.
Fixing the mistake I made with Cadence all those years ago should be simple.
Except it isn’t.
Things aren’t the same as they once were.
Cadence is the driving force behind a non-profit organization where she handles each case with the determination of a shark. I’m the CEO for a public relations firm—one that represents clients who oppose everything Cadence stands for. What do they say about opposites attract?
But Cadence is hiding something—I know it.
Now we’re at a crossroad. I need to decide if going against my father is worth pursuing a second chance with her.
One wrong move and my reputation could be obliterated.

From Amazon Bestselling Author, Dakota Willink, comes the second book in the Fade Into You series—a second chance romance that will leave you breathless!

Second Chance Seventeen Years Later

The story picks up seventeen years after the first book, where Cadence and Fitz meet at camp and fall in love. Cadence heads a nonprofit helping immigrants with obtaining citizenship with her bestie. Fitz runs a PR firm and has been raising his sixteen year old son on his own after his wife died. The pair meet up again and sparks fly again. She is holding back, she has not told Fitz, they have a daughter, she the day he got married.

Will there second chance blow up before it really gets started when he finds out what she kept from him?

The two narrators did an awesome job telling the story.

17 years later!

Watch them fall for each other all over again. Plus filling in the last 17 years. Swoon!

Voice actors did such a great job with each characters tone.

17 years later

Seventeen years have gone by since the end of book 1 and their time at summer camp. Now those teens are adults and parents. Somehow their kids end up as friends and going to the same school- unbeknownst to the parents. Romance is rekindled as they get together. Overall, and other great book. I really like these characters. It would have been interesting to see what life was like after they got married, and moved in together. However, that could be a whole other story. Great narrations.

beautiful

This is the second book in Cadence and Fitz' story. It continues seventeen years after the end of the first book. There are so many emotions in their story and the narrators did very well conveying them. Their story truly played with my heart. This is a beautiful story of love and second chances.

17 years later...

Talk about pulling at your heartstrings! I absolutely loved this story about a second chance romance of two then young adults. This story takes place 17 years later with Cadence and Fitz both living their own lives. Cadence and Fitz end up running into each other while they are out running and the sparks are still there. However, things have changed, and now there are 2 children involved. Cadence is hiding a secret from Fitz that could change everything. Cadence gave her heart to Fitz 17 years ago and because of his father, she lost a piece of her heart when Fitz left her. With his father still playing a part in controlling Fitz’s life, she is not sure that she wants to subject Callie to this.

Drama, passion, chemistry, romance, love, truths, secrets and a few twists and turns will keep your interest in this story and will make you believe in love and second chances. Great story with great characters, a great plot and growth of the characters we fell in love with in book 1. I look forward to reading the next book! The keeper of my heart

This is the second book in this series. In the first book. Cadence and Fitz met and fell in love during summer camp as teenagers. This time around they meet as adults in their late 30's both living near Washington D.C. Fitz fixes peoples scandals running a PR firm with his best friend from camp. Cadence runs a non profit helping immigrants with their citizenship status with her best friend from camp and writes children's books. Fitz is no longer married but has a son. Fitz this time is the one trying to turn things around and Cadence is holding him off. That's because Cadence never told him they have a daughter together. Both of their kids go to the same school and know each other. Fitz's father is still trying to control his life and is going to do whatever he needs to do to keep Cadence away. Fitz is all in this time. No more wasted time until he finds out about his daughter and the fact Cadence lied to him. The one person he never thought would lie to him. It's a very good conclusion to this series.

Didn’t Like As Much as the First

I absolutely loved the first audiobook in this series and was certainly intrigued to see what would happen as Cadence and Fitz’s romance continued in this second book 17 years later. I'm not quite as enamored with this book as the first one, unfortunately. I felt like the stresses were all in the wrong places. While I appreciate the author's compassion in the political/nonprofit aspect of the book, I felt it often overshadowed the romance. The romance didn't have the sense of building tension that a good romance has to keep you turning the pages. I loved Fitz's responses to finding the love of his life back in his life again, but I couldn't quite understand how Cadence kept acting. I became frustrated with her myself as she kept refusing to talk with Fitz about their daughter. Her reasons for not talking about it just never seemed like enough, and that it went on and on for weeks seemed inexcusable without some greater motive force keeping her stuck in that place. I also thought what happened at Fitz's big announcement party was a bit over the top. Yes, his father probably deserved what he got, but… yikes! I did like the end, however, when things finally appeared to be looking like they were going in the right direction. I love Fitz's grand gesture at the end. It felt like it brought their story full circle. As with the first book, I loved the male narrator, as I thought he really captured the essence of Fitz when he narrated his chapters. Still not wild about the woman chosen to do Cadence’s voice. I can't quite put a finger on why. Perhaps if a better narrator had been chosen, I might have been able to buy Cadence's reluctance to do the right thing by Fitz and their daughter.

Defined (Book 2 of Fade Into You)

Defined (Book 2 of Fade Into You) by Dakota Willink. Good conclusion to Fitz and Cadence’s journey of love, destiny, and second chances. Nice paced contemporary drama with just enough steam and conflict to keep you interested until the end and routing for the HEA. I would recommend this book duet and author to others. I enjoyed the narration in this audible. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

a beautiful love story

Cadence and Fitz a love forever. Even though there are 17 years since they been apart, there love never faded.
Dakota story is emotional, showing all their love. IT's not with secrets, angst, anger and danger.
I recommend this beautiful love story.
Zachary Webber and Lacy Laurel Narration brings all the emotions, love, and angst . Very Well Done.

I'm Not a Fan of Politics

Having listened to the first book I was eager to see where Cadence and Fitz's story took us and whilst part of their story pulled at m heartstrings my overriding feeling about the story as a whole was one of disappointment. I'll explain why. I'm English and although I know a little about the political scene in the US I don't know enough to want to read or listen to a book that could have been an enjoyable and emotional second chance love story between Cadence and Fitz where their story takes second place to politics, it was very off-putting and seemed to tell a one-sided version of what I can only assume are the author's own personal beliefs. It gave a bias to the story which for me was over the top. Obviously, if you are from the US and fully understand the politics there you may feel differently.

When the author did concentrate on their second-chance romance some 17 years later when Cadence and Fitz meet again whilst running to discover that the sparks are still there was well done. I enjoyed seeing them discover how each of their lives has changed, there are now two children to be considered, as well as the secret Cadence is hiding from Fitz which could change everything was also well done.

I liked the drama, chemistry and passion as their romance bloomed again, I also liked the way the characters had grown from the young people they were in the first book when Fitz broke her heart because of his father. She was devastated when Fitz left her and as his father is still a controlling influence in Fitz’s life, I could understand her doubts about not wanting to subject Callie to this.

I will listen to the next book, just to find out what happens but I do hope it is not as politically biased as this one.

The Narration of the book by the wonderfully talented Lacy Laurel and Zachary Webber was really well done.
