Publisher's summary

Ninety-four percent of consumers will leave a website if it has poor graphic design. Do you want to effortlessly keep an audience’s attention on your data visuals and not their phones? Keep listening.

Good graphic design can feel like a magic trick. Marvel movie posters hit you with excitement, getting you hyped for the release. The Friends TV show title font creates a feeling of nostalgia.

In business, a well-designed data visual can tell a story that brings enlightenment and confidence to an audience.

It helps stakeholders make decisions quickly.

It provides invaluable insights to businesses based on data.

It inspires new data scientists or analysts to explore their creative side.

A viewer feels safe. They know they can trust the data. This is the power of design.

Luckily, this skill is not magic, but where science meets creativity. If you are worried you don’t have a creative bone in your body, Design Mind for Data Visualization is here to bridge the gap.

Ninety-three percent of all human communication is visual. When you understand how people perceive visuals and mash that with knowledge of elements and principles of design…abracadabra.

It is important to tell your data story, but you must also show it.

But how do you get started, and where do you find inspiration?

Can you even do this if you aren’t a professional graphic designer?

Do you have to go to school for this?

I understand that when you approach the design phase of data visualization, it can feel overwhelming.

It doesn’t have to be.

Let Design Mind help you put together the building blocks of design fundamentals and create a structure and process for you to use going forward.

Good introduction to data visualization concepts

This title could use an accompanying PDF to illustrate the concepts; otherwise, it is a good introduction to the basic elements of data visualization. Good for a beginner in the practice.
