Publisher's summary

A ghost who brings visions of fire. A runaway girl on the streets. A psychic who might be lying about someone's death. It must be time for Jack and Lauren to get serious.

Ghosts, Lauren can handle. People, on the other hand, can be scary as hell. So when she finds herself visited by a young girl who's clearly no longer of this world, Lauren is more intrigued than anything else. It's only when this ongoing visitation coincides with receiving a psychic distress call from a girl who desperately wants to stay missing that Lauren becomes both curious and frightened.

Soon, Lauren and Jack find themselves pitted against a ticking clock as they try to rescue a girl the police are searching for, at least one man is hunting, and who another psychic claims to have already seen dead.

As fun to listen to as it is to read

What did you love best about Distance?

I had read the book, but hearing the characters come to life in the voice of the narrator was a great way to revisit a story I already liked a,lot.

What other book might you compare Distance to and why?

Really, I think David's books are so unique that the only thing I can compare to is the previous two books in this series. They just keep getting better!

Which character – as performed by Kerrie Seymour – was your favorite?

Lauren was and is my favorite though I really like Jack too. But I relate to Lauren even though it's been a long time since I was her age.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Extreme pleasure! I just keep rooting for Lauren and Jack, so every time I encounter them is a pleasure.

Any additional comments?

While this book could easily be listened to as a stand-alone, you'd be doing yourself a pleasurable favor to listen to books 1 and 2 as well. If you want to listen to this one first, you can just thing of the first two as prequels!

Great Story, great narrator

This is the third book of a series involving two young adults with psychic abilities. If this is the first book you read in the series the author does a great job of putting in enough background so the reader doesn't get lost, yet doesn't overdo the back story.

Narration review: Kerrie Seymour has a very nice voice. I was able to tell which character was speaking through her intonation. The narrative portion of the story was very evenly read. I actually found her voice very soothing.

Great story, great reader!

Would you listen to Distance again? Why?

Absolutely. David's books are the type which get better with time. I have read the first book, Streetlights Like Fireworks, twice, and enjoyed it even more the second time.

What did you like best about this story?

Very good pacing, understated drama, great characters.

What about Kerrie Seymour’s performance did you like?

Each character has a recognizable voice, and it fits the character so very well. Excellent job!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, just greatly enjoyed the whole story.

Any additional comments?

David Pandolfe is a wonderful writer. His work can be beautiful and almost lyrical, in unexpected ways. Yet the stories are not overdone, or silly, or overdramatic. I'd like to meet these people. I'd also like to meet Me. Pandolfe some time, t o express my admiration for his work.

Great story, great narrator!

I first read this book and got a little confused because I didn't read which character that chapter was about. The narrator does such a good job at changing her voice that I knew immediately that it was a different character and wouldn't have been confused at all. And the narrator 's range of characters runs from a very young girl, male and female adults, and even an elderly couple whose voices are very convincing.
The story is exciting and the dialogue between Jack and Lauren is very entertaining. David Pandolfe creates an adventure that makes me want to tag along with Lauren and Jack, especially in that old VW van. All of the books in this series are worthwhile reads and now on Audible, I can multitask while enjoying the story.

Another great addition to the series

Who was your favorite character and why?

Can't pick just one, I really like both Jack and Lauren, and their back and forth banter.

Have you listened to any of Kerrie Seymour’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time listening to Kerrie Seymour really enjoyed her performance. I think she really captured the mood and characters.
