About this listen
If she could speak to them, she would say they have exploded her heart, released firecrackers through her senses. She wishes she could call the police, the ambulance, the fire brigade, to arrest and anaesthetise and waterboard the bastards.
So what happens when your husband runs off with your best friend? When you discover the dead body of an old man halfway through your delivery round? When your house is burgled and you get beaten up? Doris, Andy, and Colleen are about to find out. They’re also about to discover that you can find friendship and support in the oddest of places....
Heart-rending, humorous, and above all, authentic, Distorted Days is an exquisitely written account of the ways in which life can knock you off our feet - and how you can pick yourself up again. If you’ve experienced the fickleness of fortune, this is a book that you’ll never forget.

Story
Ginger Mallowan embodies everything the 1980s stand for, from big hair to power suits to "Material Girl"...until her son disappears during a beach walk one night. That's the moment girls don't want to have fun anymore, and the moment she starts hunting for answers. Now Ginger's hair is a bit flatter, her power suits packed into the attic, and her dance steps to Madonna lack the energy of better days. She hasn't found—or forgotten—her missing son, and she's only survived the grief thanks to her neighbor and keeper of secrets, Tara Christie.

Story
The playground is the last place I thought I’d see you. It was my Billy’s first day at school. It was supposed to be a happy one. But then you turned up. I remembered you instantly from the hospital wing. Our babies born on the same day. Both premature. Both needing intensive care. While Billy grew stronger day by day, your baby sadly slipped away. But now you’re back with one devastating accusation…. Billy isn’t my son at all, he’s yours. And you’ve come to take him away.

Story
In the summer of 1877, the bedraggled remains of the Nez Perce tribe took on the US Army and, despite being badly outnumbered and outgunned, emerged victorious. Bone Necklace captures the intensity, violence, and unexpected conclusion of America’s final “Indian War”, told from the perspectives of a Nez Perce warrior, an Idaho militiaman, and an English painter who gets caught up in the violence. Combining heart-thumping action with an unforgettable cast, the novel centers on the relationship between two fighters, who are both enemies and allies in this war.

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Story
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Definitively worth it. relatable characters
'Distorted Days' is a very different kind of book about everyday life, routine and next door unknown struggles. Nothing dreamy, nothing extraordinary, just three common folks running into each other at work or at the corner grocery, almost a mundane account of a stoic existence. It is a book about our lives, about your life, mine our neighbors.
We are following pregnant Doris whose husband (Cock) suddenly moves out Christmas week to run off with her best friend (Twat).
How do you cope with the ultimate betrayal ? Who is there to lift you up ? As Doris proceeds one day at a time, the reader meets Colleen and Andy, whose perspective on a challenging actuality is a very different one from Doris.
This narration is a realistic account , a comparison on how people accept life and how they react to events in general.
Recounting life’s griefs, losses and attempts, the story successfully stays uplifting and positive and will remain with you long after you are done reading.
Louise Worthington comes out as a very gifted writer with a deep understanding of the human condition.
Her short book has a rhythm to it that is repetitive but soothing at the same time : “They make her drink, guzzle until her stomach is a well…They still make her drink, sip if she has to…faces at the bottom of the glass…and They are still watching…then it is dark, the color of a drinker’s liver”
