About this listen

Most families have interesting histories and personalities. There’s sometimes an Uncle Ted that never came back from the war or a cousin Rose who married the Grand Duke of Moravia. But most families in the Mid-western U.S. live normal lives and don’t move far from the farm or small town where they grew up. Doc’s Tribe, originating in Missouri and Illinois, was unique. Phillip and Louise, the parents of the Vardiman family, believed in culture, education, travel, and adventure that propelled their children into exciting careers and experiences. They also moved frequently and owned several homes within proximity to America’s Main Street from the ‘40s to the ‘70s - Route 66. The frequent stories that filtered back from Chicago and Los Angeles fed the dreams and ambitions of Doc’s Tribe. Living in small towns, on western ranches, in big cities, on farms, and living along Route 66 all contributed to the unique mix of family dynamics and travel. Cultural & Regional Ranch
