Loving this series so far

I like this book, I love that’s the main character have dialogues with her inner self. Some of the dialogue is very amusing. In this new place our heroine have found a family she could belong to. She have a lot of struggles with the god of secrets. I don’t blame her for not like keeping big secrets, especially harmful ones. I can’t wait to read book 3, an enticing cliffhanger at the end. Absolutely love love Sarah Kisko. In my opinion she does a great job with the narration. Definitely a five star narrator.

I need part 3 now

The heroine is great as is the hero. The story is great except for it ending in a bad spot. Be prepared to need book 3. I got this book through the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Secretly Magical

It just keeps getting better and better.

Empire of Secrets is an unwrapping, an unfolding, of a gift. A new world is presented, a new culture unfurls, and new magic is experienced. Character development opens like a rose, and Pell is gradually becoming a stronger and more confident person. Harpoc is a brilliant mentor, gently coaxing Pell into her new station of power and beauty.

This story has all the warm fuzzies. Also, cockroach-y sensations, but they get handled.

Again, if you haven't listened to the audiobook, please do. Narrator Sarah Kisko doesn't just breathe life into the mid-twenty's female, Pell, she also lends a sexy voice to Harpoc, god of secrets. Quite a talented gal!

Okay. This review is done...go read/listen! Go on! Post Haste!

Bewitching!

The Empire of Secrets begins as Harpoc and Pell are tripskipping to his kingdom to crack the case of leaking secrets and to show her how he lives. Arriving on an island that floats on air currents, she knows that she's in a new unknown. Once at home, Harpoc introduces her to his core advisers that he calls family and Pell is amazed at their individual powers. Before Pell agreed to accompany him home, he promised her that he would be more forthcoming and her trust in him begins to grow. At home, Harpoc is met with battles all around and he realizes that they are due to the leaking of secrets and it's his duty, as god of secrets, to seal them again. Pell is upset that Harpoc is allowing and sealing secrets that may destroy a civilization. Is giving the secrets of American technology and knowledge to the Chinese okay with him? That certainly hit home with her (and me)! As time goes on, she begins to see the soft side of Harpoc on his home island, but something doesn't sit quite right. He's still keeping secrets from her when he promised not to. I feel that she overreacts a little by accusing him of betraying her, but there's a reason for Harpoc's hesitance. This is such a captivating story and the characters are written with such a clear purpose and personality that they simply jump off the page. Pell embraces who and what she is, and life seems to have taken a remarkable turn for. But things aren't as safe as they seem as she's attacked and taken away to the Empire of Glass. I need to know their future!  Sarah Kisko has done another wonderful job with the narration. She has the ability to pull you into the story with her dynamic voice and clear characterizations.

A fascinating world

The author does a wonderful job of building this fascinating world that Pell has been thrust into making home. And I really enjoyed the various accents the narrator used for the various characters. Looking forward to what happens in book three!

Who am I and how did I get here?

Pel and Harpoc continue to learn about each other and themselves in the process. Yes, it's only been 2 weeks since they met but what a two weeks they were! I love that I can see the descriptions of the locations and the creatures they come into contact with. I'm not a paranormal reader normally but this book has enough historical references for me to really get into it and stop to look up what some of the creatures and gods are, including Harpocrates (yes, my teen knew exactly who he is). The pieces fall into place, some very nicely and some with a bit of difficulty. As Pel comes to terms with who she is and who Harpoc is, reality & fantasy collide for her. Cannot wait for book 3.
