About this listen

In Fattily Ever After Stephanie Yeboah speaks openly about her own experience on navigating life as a Black plus-sized woman - telling it how it really is - and how she has managed to find self-acceptance in a world where judgement and discrimination are rife.

"The truth is, body positivity is for white women. White female bodies being safe is paramount to maintaining white supremacy." (Stephanie Yeboah, 2017)

Twenty-nine-year-old plus-size blogger Stephanie Yeboah has experienced racism and fat-phobia throughout her life. From being bullied at school to being objectified and humiliated in her dating life, Stephanie's response to discrimination has always been to change the narrative around body-image and what we see as beautiful.

Featuring stories of every day misogynoir and being fetishised, to navigating the cesspit of online dating and experiencing loneliness, Stephanie shares her thoughts on the treatment of Black women throughout history, the marginalisation of Black plus-sized women in the media (even within the body-positivity movement) whilst drawing on wisdom from other Black fat-liberation champions along the way. Peppered with insightful tips and honest advice, this inspiring and powerful audiobook is essential listening for a generation of Black plus-sized women, helping them to live their life openly, unapologetically and with confidence.

I must have book on your body love journey

Stephanie’s book give us a lens that our culture is in desperate need to understand. Her story is both heart breaking and heart warming and utterly healing and eye opening. As an eating disorder clinician in a white-washed system, this book is absolutely essential for ALL people, regardless of color, ability or size, to read — but especially for souls donning fat black bodies. I loved this book, I will be using it with clients and am very thankful for the long lists of current resources from influencers, to research, to clothing brands that I can lend to my clients to help them feel more seen, empowered, and cared for. Thank you Stephanie!

Provided Me with Comfort and Knowledge

This book gives invisible, fat black girls a voice. I found this book to be extremely comforting, eye-opening, and educational. In a world where fat people are not accepted, this book proves we are not alone. This book is also fantastic for people who are not fat, but want to be allies of fat people. Stephanie Yeboah does a great job breaking down the do’s and don’t’s when comforting a fat friend. I also love and appreciate that Yenoah narrated this recording herself - this just makes the book feel that much more personal. Do yourself a favor and read/listen this book.

Very relatable/ an eye opener / learned so much!

My dietitian recommended I listen to this book and I am so glad I did. I learned so much and yes will continue to recommend.
I am a Ghanaian American. And I can so relate to what the author was talking about.
The narrator was excellent. This was an eye opener for me. I have a problem with the word "fat" and at times I found it difficult to continue with the book. I liked the different stores the author mentioned at the end of the book.
