Publisher's summary

Fire the Landscaper is a biting critique of current landscape design and maintenance practices. The audiobook explores the health risks, cultural biases, origins, and the insults to Mother Nature caused by our culturally backed, legally enforced obsession with artificial representations of nature.

The author, Phil Williams, is a former owner of a successful lawn and landscape company. He exposes the waste, fraud, and downright ridiculousness of an industry focused solely on aesthetics. Through his subsequent training as a permaculture designer, he offers many practical solutions aligned with nature to increase the health and productivity of landscapes, and the world by extension, while simultaneously reducing the workload of upkeep.

Great Intro to Sustainability Despite Norms

Funny, biting, and educational tour through the bad habits, stupid laws, and blinkered thinking that has enforced conforming to unhealthy aesthetics over celebrating and nurturing nature's bounty.

Breath of Fresh Air-

This book was a breath of fresh air. In the spring of 2017, I was preparing to weed and feed my lawn which was full of clovers and some dandelions. I asked myself, why are you trying to kill them when you don’t even know why they’re there? That question rang like a church bell on the inside of me like so many other things had been of late. I immediately stopped what I was doing and searched for the purpose of clovers and dandelions. Needless to say, I didn’t weed and feed that day and haven’t since. I’ve been on a journey of listening and learning and this book has given me hope for a return to a simple life. One day and one step at a time. Thank you!

Engaging, enraging, and inspiring

This was an excellent introduction to the topic, full of enraging but validating information for anyone who knows in their heart that the way most of us live isn't how we're supposed to be living. I really enjoyed this and learned a ton.

An Environmental Call to Arms!

Very informative, even as it makes an emotional appeal to stop poisoning our very homes. Most disturbing yet important is the analysis of HOAs and governmental assaults on our freedom to choose to live more ecologically responsibly. They literally legally imposed environmental destruction, and that heavy-handed "Big Brother" has only gotten worse in recent years.

Wonderful!

I finished this book in one sitting. I started it while walking my dog at the park and finished it at home. I love everything about the book. We should all take heed to the writer's advice before it is too late! I learned so much from this book and hope to use that knowledge to make our world a better place.

LEGITIMATE SCOPE OF REASONS TO NOT MANICURE LAWNS

I found this Audible covered multiple issues that every person who has decision making authority, over how yards are kept up, would do well, for the environment's sake, to intently ponder and heed.

In these days when we are called to be ever mindful about our thoughts and actions, by listening to or reading this book, you will be ALERTED to cease and desist making unconscious knee-jerk CONFORMING acts that dangerously contribute to DESTROYING the earth we have been gifted with. YOU will not be able to say you did not know...

Efforts to keep up with the so called "Jones" has led up to fouling up our very own nests. START AT HOME to lift up your heavy foot so as to no longer leave YOUR LARGE FOOTPRINT right outside your own home or office. DO NOT GROUPTHINK, BUT THINK

Nature Has The Best Design

Phil M. Williams has written a book that listed clear, concise, and compelling reasons as to how landscapers, HOAs and cultural norms are poisoning our properties and therefore our world. I have always been a believer in using less pesticides and in more stringent laws against air, water, and land pollution. Phil's solutions, as set forth in this book, are more proactive and individualized. I recommend this book to others who are looking for a possible place to start to make lasting and beneficial changes. Tristan Wright's narration was apt, and he presented the material well. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.
