Lady Constance Brandley, has a secret. She and her family don’t have two farthings to rub together. A spinster, long past the age of either love or marriage, she finds herself presented with a unique opportunity that could improve her circumstances. Except, that opportunity also brings the unlikeliest of gentlemen into her life - her best friend’s former betrothed, the Duke of Renaud.

Five Days with a Duke

Five Days with a Duke by Christy Caldwell and narrated by Tim Campbell was a bit different than other books of this genre. I enjoyed it so much. I'm looking forward to other books by her.

Great read and awesome narration..

I really liked this story. No one ever write an HR where the butler and housekeeper are as mouthy as Jenny and James are. There were so funny at times, I couldn’t believe it.

I also adored Connell and Constance. It was a great story about her interviewing him on how to win a duke’s heart and him changing his feelings and attitude in the five days he promised her.

The one thing I found hard to believe was that the family was destitute. They’d sold all the paintings from the walls, all the furniture, didn’t have money for warm clothes and no wood for the fireplaces in the dead of winter. BUT Constance was “plump.” Obviously while they were freezing to death they did have enough to buy plenty of fattening food. Jeez, that was so stupid.

There was explicit sex in this but no swearing.

As for the narration: I got the book because of Tim Campbell. He’s fabulous!

nice overall hea

but some of the plot is a bit..well, one must suspend disbelief, since these characterizations don't always match their actions. still, overall it was a nice read.
