In a crippled airplane thousands of miles from home, Tris must prove she can lead....

Propelled by grief and natural ambition, pilot Tris Miles is not content with her job as a first officer for tiny Clear Sky Airlines. She wants to be a captain - the only way she knows to prove her worth as a pilot and atone for a deadly mistake.

To further her career, Tris accepts a prestigious job with Tetrix, Inc. But her dream of becoming pilot-in-command twists into a nightmare. As the company's first woman pilot, she encounters resistance, marginalization, and harassment on a daily basis. Fortunately, Tris has one thing her co-workers can't deny - skill.

In the skies over Europe, Tris, her passengers, and crew are in real danger. With their lives on the line, can Tris earn the respect she's been craving? And if this is the end, can she find the strength to forgive herself?

Just when you think you know, you don't

Do not miss the outstanding line about 2 minutes in about a pilot and her instruments. The writing is beautiful, the story is fun, and the narration is excellent. The metaphors throughout the book are clear and true. Tris, the lead, is a character I can relate to. She has human failings but uses guiding wisdom to help her to struggle through tough times, learn, and come out the other side.

Do you know how there is such a political divide today, and it is so easy to group the others as...the others? Well, people just aren't that shallow, and neither are the characters in this story. I fell into that like I sometimes do with politics. Do not expect one-dimensional characters. If that's what you are looking for, go somewhere else. It is a great reading or listening experience.

On-point

The author pulled me into the dramatic and realistic corners of navigating an aviation career as a woman pilot. All pilots strive for a way to combat unhealthy behaviors and attitude in hopes to land into the sweet spot of ‘their’ aviation. I cheered on and commiserated with the main character as she finds what ultimately brings her true fulfillment. I look forward to reading more from this authors ~ highly recommended read for those involved in aviation and anyone striving to be their best.
