About this listen

She Chose the Hardest Way

The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. But the battles Republic marines face on strange and alien worlds are a far cry from the vaunted, brutal, no-holds-barred conflicts fought at the edge of the galaxy by the elite legionnaires.

Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard.

Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival. All their training, standards, discipline - all the hard paths - have led to this. If she and her fellow marines are to come out of this alive, Andien will have to find out who she truly is...and what she can become.

Best-selling military science fiction author Jason Anspach and USMC/US Army veteran Michelle C. Meyers explore the rigors of combat, survival, and the human will in this edge-of-your-seat account set in the Galaxy’s Edge universe.

About the Creator

Jason Anspach is the author and co-creator of Galaxy's Edge, one of the most successful independent science fiction series of the last decade. Fueled by coffee and games of pickup basketball, Jason draws on his experiences from growing up in a military family along with extensive research and interviews with combat veterans to deliver gritty, authentic titles such as Legionnaire and Savage Wars; pulse-pounding military science fiction that deftly blends action, suspense, and dark humor. Together with his wife and seven (not a typo) children, Jason resides in Puyallup, Washington. He remains undefeated at arm wrestling against his entire family.

About the Creator

An avid anti-water activist, you can find Michelle C. Meyers drinking fancy coffee, which transforms into bougie Bourbon at 5 o’clock, all in the comforts of the austere environments found only in Northern Virginia. Her contemplation of the importance of the self-rescuing princess inspired her to become an officer in the United States Marine Corps, out-shooting her male counterparts, and training and traveling all over the Pacific theater courtesy of U.S. Navy boats. After leaving active duty, she took her elite power point skills to the Army National Guard. When she’s not doing more pull ups than you, Michelle is beating the computer keyboard into submission working on projects she might not actually finish.

About the Performer

Khristine Hvam is an award-winning audiobook narrator, producer, and director. Some of her works include TV/radio commercials, video games, animated series, and most notably, more than 300 audiobook titles. Hvam has been honored with four Audio Publishers Association Audie Awards. AudioFile Magazine has awarded her seven of its Earphones Awards, as well as Best Voices of the Year 2015 and 2017. She currently lives in New Jersey with her husband and two children.

Forgot Nothing

Ok. I’m biased. I’m absolutely in love with this universe. Galaxy’s Edge is amazing. I wasn’t expecting too much from a free book....but damn this novella is kellhorned good. This universe keeps getting better and better and Andinee and her Hullbusters make another fine addition.

Great back story

An excellent back story for two characters in the main series. I'm excited to see what comes next in this side series and how it ties in with future novels!

Only complaint I have has pronunciation of a species that seems to be a running gag at this point with all the different ways it has been pronounced by all the narrators.

Different listen

Maybe it is just me but I didn’t feel a flow/plot to this as I have with other listens. Or maybe it was there and I didn’t get into it as expected. I think the combat scenes were done well but it was not my thing I guess

Really really good

Not one slow point. It is a fun ride from start to finish. I can’t wait to hear the other audio books...keep in mind this is not the first in the series... I made that mistake.... was not an issue, however.

good but a little slow to start

I liked it, especially the last half. slow to start and confusing as I didn't know what they were talking about. Who were the aliens, what were they, and unsure about who the MCR were. I felt as if I was supposed to already know the settings, the weapons and the basic background. That made it hard to follow at first. Once the action started, however, hoorah!
