Publisher's summary

From the breakout star of Netflix’s Cheer, this motivational guide “will inspire you to aim high and succeed no matter what ‘getting on mat’ means in your life” (Gabi Butler, two-time national cheerleading champion and star of Cheer).

In Full Out, “the Bill Belichick of cheerleading” (The Cut) Coach Monica Aldama shares how she built one of the most successful and beloved cheerleading programs in the country. Her uncompromising brand of discipline and consistency goes far beyond the mat—showing how the principles of building a winning team apply to personal goals, the corporate world, parenting, and all aspects of life.

There’s a lot of talk these days about shortcuts and life hacks, but what really counts is commitment and integrity, helping your friends, and improving with your teammates. Coach Monica shares deeply personal stories of triumph and tragedy—from divorce and remarriage to her husband, her challenges as a young mother working more than full time, and her strenuous weeks on Dancing with the Stars. She shares surprising behind-the-scenes moments from the Cheer docuseries, and insights gleaned from more than two decades of pushing students to succeed. A true force and inspiration who has captured hearts around the world, Coach Monica “delivers the kind of down-to-earth advice we need to be fearless, make excellence a habit, and to bet on ourselves” (Whitney Cummings, comedian and author of I’m Fine… And Other Lies).

AMAZING

i usually don’t like books but i finished this one in 5 days! this book was so inspiring to me and very motivating to me as a young cheerleader. my coach went to navarro and was coached by monica so he coaches similar. you don’t practice until you get it right but until you can’t get it wrong. practicing this way has lead me to great success and it is assuring that a literal icon monica aldama is using the same coaching style when coaching a collage level team as my coach coaching a junior level 2 team. i really hope that some day i will be able to be coached my this queen. i would totally recommend reading this book and i listened to it while i played sub way suffers 🤣but really inspiring and motivating.

A great book if you've watched Cheer

I watched the series Cheer and loved Coach Monica. She was so no-nonsense and driven. So I went into this book already a fan and came out a bigger one.

This books gives a lot of perspective and background to what you see on the show. It also gives insight to Monica's coaching style and personality. She is driven and no-nonsense but you see how she brings compassion and kindness with that. I recommend if you haven't seen the show to watch it before reading the book. Some aspects might not hold as much weight if you don't.

Did not see that coming!

While I admired Coach Monica from the Netflix show Cheer - I did NOT expect to find a female leader that thinks like me. Focused, fierce and sometimes can rub people the wrong way with her / my intensity. I felt "seen" and learned a lot on ways to pause. Everyone is not me and I am not everyone. To be an even better leader I have to know that. Thanks Coach Monica - you gave me so many lessons that I can apply to my real professional life! I didn't necessarily expect that and grateful for your book!

Honest and inspiring

I knew I would like this book, but I was even more impressed after I started listening. We’ve known Monica and her family for years, so we have always been been fans of Navarro Cheer. I’ve been impressed with her skill at teaching, coaching, and pulling routines together since I watched my oldest granddaughter learn amazing stunts at CTA about 14 years ago when she was 5 years old. This book was interesting from beginning to end. Monica’s honesty and insight are amazing. Her compassion for her students is evident, and she is a blessing to everyone who comes under her care. This is an excellent book.
