About this listen

Best-selling author Conn Iggulden has earned sweeping critical acclaim for his Genghis Khan series, which captures the essence of the legendary warrior as no previous novels have.

In this breathtaking volume, Genghis must act when trouble brews west of the Mongolian plains. Dividing his army and using his sons as generals, he sets out to accomplish two important goals - conquer those who resist, and determine which son should succeed him.

Most action packed yet

Unlike the other books, this one feels like it’s just one battle after another. If your into that, you will enjoy this one too

Good

Was more in depth with the other characters. A few chapters and descriptions were very long and hard to get through but on the other side for example the history of the assassins was very brief

Exceptional work.

When I first began this book, I had a bit of a problem keeping all of the players straight. By the time the end of the book arrived, I felt as if I knew each one with Incredible detail. The narrator did a fabulous job of conveying this very powerful story. As with any good book, the picture created by the narrator of the story in my mind exceeded my complete expectations. It is a brutal story of a brutal people in a brutal time. There is no romance to this story. Be that as it may, it is still a fascinating story about an incredible period of time in n human history.

Great part 3

A well written continuation of this series. Brining it to life and keeping social and historical context in mind. Narrator is same as part 2 and does a good job, but still prefer the one from part 1.

Epic Tale, Beautifully Presented

I wish Conn Iggulden would have a book on every great leader of history. He's my favorite way of learning.

Bloodthirsty Group

Love the story but I was glad when he died. I had sympathy for him at the beginning but he was not someone to admire.

History of an Empire - Genghis

I have always wondered about this figure of history and how a small group of Mongolian nomads could conquer most of the known world. Early on, it is revealed that the story evolved from the oldest know material and I assume he Conn introduced a great deal of personality into each of the characters. What he did introduce made this historical fiction plausible. Interesting tale and I look forward to the next.

Bad ending

The narrator is the same as the second book, but he did a better job in this one. Still not great pronunciation though.

I planned on giving this book five stars all the way through...until the end. The end felt cheap and rushed. I was also disappointed that the author chose his death from the most unlikely and least substantiated of all the rumors surrounding Genghis's end. It was good but the ending was a serious let down.
