Detective Sargent and clinical psychologist, Patricia Holmes, has been invited to a murder mystery dinner party at a small luxury hotel located in Western Australia. The dinner is a reunion party for the psychologists and psychiatrists who work at Perth’s largest mental hospital, which treats the criminally insane.

But there is an uninvited guest - a former patient who is hungry for revenge. In fact, he is ravenous. He will stop at nothing until he murders the doctor who gave him painful electroconvulsive therapy.

Detective Sargent Holmes must stop a frenzied killer on a vicious spree - but can she save the other guests, or will she be the last one left alive?

The latest installment of Stephen B King’s “Glimpse” series sees one half of his dynamic cop duo (Patricia Holmes) going it alone. The premise is she’s at a remote hotel for a whodunit murder mystery dinner, but has to switch gears from fun to deadly serious when she finds out a homicidal patient has escaped from a mental hospital—and he is heading her way. A great story, full of suspense, but I just couldn’t shake the feeling that the author was having a lot of fun writing it. If anything is wrong with it, it’s too short. More of a novella than a novel you can really sink your teeth into. It’s part of a larger collection, so it makes sense it’s much shorter than most of King’s other stuff. If you haven’t already done so, read one or more of the four earlier “Glimpse” novels. They’re awesome.

Is it wrong to call a psychological thriller “fun”???

Australian Author, Stephen B King, continues his series of mentally disturbed killers, and Pat gets to do this one alone.
Enjoyed it almost as much as the other books in the series, but it's difficult to flesh out a strong character driven novel in such a short time frame.
