Can Grace stitch together the clues before her life is torn apart?
2. Backstitched and Stabbed. The only thing worse than wet woolen togs, is a knife in the back. 3. Gather the Anarchists. This royal visit is going to off with a bang Edward, the Prince of Wales, is about to step foot on Kiwi soil. Then a horrible accident and a dying man's last moments, draws Grace into a conspiracy to harm the royal. Can Grace save the prince, or will there be an explosive end to the royal visit?

Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face. She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband. Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

The impoverished playwright has a dream to see her plays performed on stage, but in Elizabethan England, not only are women considered the inferior sex, they simply do not write plays. Faced with rejection after rejection, she decides to take one more chance with the most desperate theater manager in London, only this time she’ll use the cover of a man. Wish these would continue…
As with all Tilly’s work, I love this collection. It’s different from her other work in that the character’s gift is left mysterious, even to herself. For me this makes it even more intriguing, and I am left longing to learn more with her.
The narrator is also different than with her other work, but perfect for this story. She helps to bring all the characters depth forward and is a pleasure to listen to.
Tilly’s talent for description never disappoints as she transports you to the time and places in her stories. One can easily see the surroundings, feel the cultural significance, and struggles of the times for many groups of people. She gives hope and kindness and opens one’s mind to more than what they have experienced in their own lives.
All her books are enchanting and this series is no different in that regard. Wonderful escapism, filled with true meaningful friendships and support. And, as always, a little magic.
