Do you feel held captive by manipulation? Are you looking to recover your sense of self and break free from narcissistic abuse?
The truth is, millions of people are dealing with the pain of having been a victim of a narcissist. They may have been lied to, manipulated, cheated on, and controlled. When you are constantly dealing with the changing stories, lies, and manipulation that comes with narcissistic abuse, it is easy to worry about your own mental health and fear that you are losing a grip on reality.
Handling a Narcissist was written to help you develop the skills you need to advocate for yourself. In this audiobook, you will find the tools to identify narcissistic behavior that will allow you to better understand what you are going through and help you see who the narcissist truly is. You will learn how to communicate clearly without falling victim to their schemes and manipulations.
As a retired couple’s therapist, I have witnessed the devastating effects of narcissistic behavior in both the perpetrator and the victim, along with the damage to the family unit. I wrote this book to help those who find themselves in a relationship with a potential narcissist - whether they are a spouse, partner, family member, or co-worker.
Inside, you will discover:
- The most common signs of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)
- The four types of narcissists and their personality traits
- Proven techniques to communicate your own needs while avoiding a power struggle
- How to identify the four degrees of abuse denial
- How to recognize every psychological game the narcissist will play
- The most common disguises worn by a narcissist
- The critical steps to effectively walk away from a narcissist - for good
- The secrets to creating boundaries
- How to communicate with a narcissist in a work environment
- The number one mind-set needed to stand up to gaslighting and manipulation
- And so much more!

Imho, this book—though offering helpful insights—is a good “cliff-notes” style, quick overview for someone who has read a lot on the subject. If you want to know what the author is going to share, the Conclusion chapter is a good place to start and indeed the book’s summary. Before writing this review I read a number of other reviews that referenced “recovery or healing from” NPD, however, this book doesn’t offer or even promise that—the author does however, offer up some helpful suggestions of who to see (trauma informed counselor) that could help lead to recovery.
The narrator’s performance is pretty “clinical” in that the delivery is emotionally void of drama or personal interpretation. I’d call it “flat”, but in a good way bc no one fact or experience is given higher emphasis to influence the listener. That said, if this were my first book on NPD, I would have lost focus.
One more perspective to empowerment
