This is the gripping story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan province and placed him on the front line for Jesus, in the face of impossible odds. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun prefers to focus on the character and beauty of Jesus.

Interspersed with his personal account are contributions from his wife, Deling, made mostly during her husband's frequent periods of imprisonment. You will remember where you were the first time you read this life story. It's a watershed book that will turn the reader to prayer and praise. It deserves comparison with past classics such as Tortured for Christ by Richard Wurmbrand, or the Life of Watchman Nee.

If you live in the so called civilized world where the idea of believing in Christ is as real as a Greek fairy tell, you may need to have your eyes opened by listen to Brother Yun's walk with God. If you feal weak and catch yourself wondering what the christian work is all about, this book will wake you up. If you are being persecuted for your faith, this indeed is a must-hear for you. If you are one who runs to fiction because of the plot, try a true story whose plot is made in heaven. I have listened to this one many times and consider it my number one.

What did you like best about this story?

Breathtaking testimony!! It made me stop and think about the Church today in the West!!! He a Christian Pastor with his powerful relationship with the Lord. His faith, his joy, and his courage in the face of such cruelty, hard staggering trials, imprisonment, mind boggling Deprivation yet he went through this all for the love of God, the lost, and His Word. He tells us how God was with him, comforted, and guided him. Great Results: The Church grew, Lives were changed, unlovely loved, people healed, even many of the worst of mankind were saved; by grace becoming the some of the best of citizens in world and born into God eternal Kingdom as well. Like David this man is after the heart of our Lord and Savior. His life is more than a text book example of walking in the light of God love, and in obedience, no matter the cost. His staggering statements of the Churches sin in the West of being so lukewarm or backslide is compelling to get one to stop, think, and pray. As a Christian, in the light of his walk with the Lord in total obedience, I must ask myself the following questions. Is Jesus my first love? Am I walking in total obedience in my walk with the Lord? PRAYING!: "God change me and help the Church also to put You first" Praying: Psalms 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Where do I begin? This book is open my eyes to what the Holy Spirit can do. When you read 2000-year-old stories of the apostles in Acts you wonder what’s happened today, because there is no more miracles in the west or at least very few. But what the Lord has done in China and thru brother Yun and others, my faith is strengthened and I realize how Laodicean we have become in the west. Our churches are dying just like in Europe. It seems like an odd prayer, but Lord help us by bringing trials and tribulation so we will trust You more!
