Publisher's summary

Miss Maryann FitzWilliam is too witty and bookish for her own good. No gentleman of the ton will marry her, so her parents arrange for her to wed a man old enough to be her father. But Maryann is ready to use those wits to turn herself into a sinful wallflower.

When the scandal sheet reports a sighting of Nicolas Ives climbing out the chamber windows of a house party, Maryann does the unthinkable. She anonymously claims that the bedchamber belonged to none other than Miss FitzWilliam, tarnishing her own reputation - and chances of the dastardly union her family secured for her. Now she just needs to convince the marquess to keep his silence.

Nicholas Ives, marquess of Rothbury has purposefully cultivated a reputation as the most ruthless, unprincipled libertine, all so he can slip beneath the guards of those whose vile actions caused him to lose the only girl he's ever loved. Despite his intrigue, Nicolas is determined to ignore the deceitful and enticing Miss FitzWilliam. However, his enemies are drawing close, and he soon discovers he must keep her closer to protect her.

Contains mature themes.

Excellent Book

This was so good! Such a great story line. I loved the plot and the characters and the sex scenes were so juicy.

Fantastic!

The entire story was well thought out and exciting. The heroine and hero were wonderful characters. I felt all the emotions they did. I did not appreciate the narrator in the first book, but she was excellent in this one. I will definitely listen to it again!

Loved The Book & The Narrator

For all the other reviewers who didn't like the narrator Mary Sarah because of her breathy, sultry tone.... that's why I've loved her for years! There are many audio book readers/narrators/actors who are awful, even with a great book I will pass them by because of horrible voices. I have always sought out Mary Sarah Agliotta: Everything by Elisa Braden, Jillian Eaton, Annabelle Anders, and Sophie Darling read by MS. She is American and also reads clean Christian novels and traditional stories.

I can't stand Justine Eyre or Heather Wilds. I love Mary Jane Wells, Carolyn Morris, a few others, and yes, Mary Sarah.

I love stories about rogues and wallflowers. It heated up in the conservatory, then at his townhouse (where she sneaked in!) and was scorching hot at the end which I didn't expect. It's a keeper!

Narrator Awful

Weird, affected, random. Almost unlistenable. Strange repetitive cadences. A pseudo accent. Really I can not express how unpleasant the affectations were

Loved the story

Loved everything about this book and count it high on a list of favorites. Some readers complain of narration but I’ve found speed to resolve most narration issues.

This is a slow burn

The story is quite different than what I’m use to, which is a good thing. However, I feel like it drags too much in the middle. A lot of unnecessary thoughts and at times I wasn’t sure who was speaking or where they were. In series like this, with the first book being so amazing I expected the second book to be ok and I was not disappointed. I loved the story it self. There was a lot of character to keep track of and the narrator used the same 2 voices for everybody. I might have had a better experience reading the actual book.

Great book distracting vocals

I had to speed the recording up. Voice was just too slow & overly sultry for the entire book. The story was great once I got over the vocals

To ruin a good book....

Choose a lousy narrator to whisper the book to you.

Definitely a couple of x-rated scenes.

Excellent read

I have to admit that I didn’t start this book expecting to like it as much as I did. Great story line. Kept me interested the whole way through. Intriguing and enticing. I hope she keeps up this style as not all of her other books have been so good. You won’t be disappointed.
