When Mark Rampolla filled a notebook with potential start-up ideas, his wife asked him some tough questions. What about this idea is exciting, beyond the possibility of a profit? He had seen the developing world use coconut water, but this valuable resource was being discarded in the US.

While taking on the beverage industry was a big goal - high-hanging fruit - it was worth the risk because Mark believed passionately that it could change the world. After years of hard work, ZICO Coconut Water became a huge success and was eventually sold to Coca-Cola for more than $200 million.

This book is about harnessing your values to make money and produce a product or service that will truly resonate with consumers, bring you joy and fulfillment, and leave a mark on the world. Large incumbent corporations often try to trick this savvy audience through packaging or advertising, but customers see through it and instead are drawn to insurgent brands derived from the founders' passion and positive impact in the world.

What a thrilling story! If you are an entrepreneur this is a great read to learn about the process of making ones dream come to fruition. An impressive journey with all the ups and downs while staying true to your values and the important things in life. Beautiful.

Not usually a big fan of these kinds of books, but during this book, found synergy in my current path which often seemed parallel to Mark's. So it was nice seeing how he did not give up and had persistence to fight and keep moving forward.

I wish I could have just not finished the book but unfortunately I kept hoping it would get better (since I purchased the book based on another author's recommendation whom I admire). Felt very inauthentic. Money being the sole motivation shined through beyond the claim of health benefits for Americans and economic benefits for the countries with coconut sources. The part of the story where the group of friends who all work for charitable organizations (and are all profiting monetarily from them) left a bad taste in my mouth. I did buy Zico and the taste in my mouth did not improve.
