This series has too much modern feminism and politics than I like in this genre

I have really enjoyed getting to know May McGoldrick books. These co-authors are great writers, the descriptions, dialogue, plot development are very good — and this series has the same quality writing style. I recommend May McGoldrick books in general, and I listened to this series and found much to like, however, I got tired of how much the authors weave modern attitudes surrounding women’s suffrage and political reform into this period book.

A post Culloden rising

OK so why not? I am left needing to figure out who the British monarchy were in 1820.
The plot has some twists and turns, and it's not for reading with young family. Sex scenes are not subtle in this book of the trilogy. This won't surprise Outlander fans, who will like this tale.

AMAZING

I REALLY THOUGHT THAT THE FIRST BOOK IN THIS SERIES COULDN'T BE TOPPED BUT I WAS WRONG. AT FIRST I WAS A LITLE CONFUSED BY ALL THE NAMES BROUGHT IN AT THE BEGINNING. THEN IT TOOK OFF AND I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. THE NARRATORS WERE AMAZING AND I DIDN'T WANT THE BOOK TO END. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT. I HAVE SEVERAL OF THIS AUTHORS AUDIBLE BOOKS AND HAVE A HARD TIME PICKING MY FAVORITE. THIS ONE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE TOP.

Overall pretty good

I found the switching of narrators a bit off putting. Both are good, but I really prefer Saskia Maarleveld. I don't really understand the point of switching...if you are going to have two the have the male read the male parts and the female read female. Anyway, the story was very good and I enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters. I recommend.

Great readers.

Contrary to other reviews, I loved the feminism, the history and both readers. I actually found this series by seeking out Raphael Corkhill.
