About this listen

The instant New York Times best seller that reveals the collusion between Fox News and Donald Trump - with explosive new reporting covering the election and the January 6 riot.

As the nation recovers from the Trump presidency, many questions remain: Why was the COVID-19 pandemic so grossly mishandled? How did we get so politically polarized? What caused White nationalist groups to come out of the shadows, and are they here to stay?

The answers lie the twisted story of the relationship between Donald Trump and Fox News. Through firsthand accounts from over 250 current and former Fox insiders, CNN anchor and chief media correspondent Brian Stelter unlocks the inner workings of Rupert Murdoch’s multibillion-dollar media empire. The confessions are shocking: “We don’t really believe all this stuff,” a producer says. “We just tell other people to believe it.”

Stelter completes the story of the Trump years and looks toward the future of the network that made him. Hoax is a book for anyone who reads the news and wonders how we got here, and what happens next.

“hoax” said over 600 X on Fox n 1st 6 mos. of 2020

State-supported media.
A Propaganda machine for Donny Trump.

The best book ever at Concisely gathering and exposing the blatant manipulation and the soldier mentality of the flock. A Connect the dots exposure of how a conservative news channel, formerly with journalistic principles, shed its Integrity, conservative philosophy, and actual news team in favor of nothing but cheerleaders and pleaders for Trump.

A scary stat: The word “hoax” was used more than 600 times on Fox News in the first 6 months alone of 2020.

How pathetic. How illustrative of the depths to which this channel has sunk.

FOX NEWS really does suck

Excellent information about how rotten Fox News really is. Brian Stelter does an excellent job exposing the truth about the Donald Trump propaganda network.

Thanks for writing this book

I am extremely thankful that you wrote this book. I am one of the people who you talk about in the book ....when the president comes on air I immediately turn him off. I’m disgusted by him and anyone who is willing to lie and hurt people. I cannot stomach to watch Fox News so I couldn’t wait to hear from a trusted news anchor as yourself to exactly what goes on. It was just as I thought horrible.

I’m very well informed and that’s a good thing. I just wonder about the people who are in the Trump cult!! Such a misfortune. This book was well written and extremely informative and I loved it!!

Thanks again and continue to do a fantastic job of reporting the news.

Entertaining and Frightening

Stelter’s fact-based book documents a network and administration that operates in and alternate reality completely devoid of facts.

Trump is the symptom in this story, and Fox is the disease. I can only hope that Fox fans will read this book and wake up to the fact that they’re being lied to, continuously.

My only misgiving about “Hoax,” is that it doesn’t end with a happy ending. I look to January, 2021 for that.

Excellent and illuminating

If you think you already know the story of Fox “News” and Donald Trump, you probably don’t. Brian Stelter gives an unflinching but balanced report of what went on inside the network that allowed them to be coopted by the current President. I am frequently appalled by the Fox talking points I hear uttered by friends I liked to think of as intelligent. There was a time when I thought the effect of Fox’s propaganda might be insurmountable but I do believe the majority of Americans value truth. In any event, everyone should read this book to see what is truly behind the curtain. It appears from this read that the cult of Fox will not be able to withstand the light. Worthwhile read, I was sorry to see it end.

An amazing read! Explains much about Trump & Fox!

Amazing detail laid out by Brian Stelter month by month, event by event! Scary to realize how Fox and Trump have mesmerized and continue to lead their base astray! I hope some people will wake up from reading this. Unfortunately, those who should read it are the ones least likely to do so. But my husband and I loved it!

Powerful Read

I greatly enjoyed listening to this book. Stelter is an excellent reporter and storyteller. He also is honest with his listeners. His work demonstrates how dishonest Fox News is with its viewers of its opinion shows.

Total Behind-The-Scenes Reveal

You knew that someone had to be feeding Trump the kind of information he would spew every day. It's clear from this book where that was coming from. A must read!

Very Informative

This was a very informative book that tells the story of how Fox News has become a network that has very little regard for facts. Fox has played a major role in the USA having such an atrocious response to the pandemic. It is sad that the USA is now leading the world in science deniers. It is also sad that their audience has such little knowledge of American history or basic values. Opinions and supporting the Great Leader are what counts. Fox is now nothing more than a propaganda network. Very sad for those us that served in combat and saw our friends die for freedom.
