Publisher's summary

Murder, trauma, and raising children—who said love was easy?

Mac and Tony thought the hard part was over. They’re together openly as a couple, sharing a home and building a life with their two kids. It’s what they dreamed of.

But daughter Anna struggles with the changes, Ben is haunted by old secrets, Mac’s job in Homicide still demands too much of his time, and Tony is caught in the middle. It’ll take everything these men can give to create a viable balance between home and work. Especially when life refuses to give them a break.

(This is a lightly edited rerelease of the 2012 original novel.)

Very Nice Indeed!

Love this audiobook!! Following Tony and Mac through their "life lessons" has been a journey through all kinds of emotions. Some anger, a lot of happiness and some sadness. This third book was mainly the guys living as a family with the kids plus there is always murder mystery. I enjoyed meeting new characters and loving how far Mac is coming along with his out status.Tony is my guy...I really love everything about him...his unwavering love and support to Mac and the kids...Love it!...now this narrator did a superb job...did wonderfully in conveying all the different characters feelings and emotions...especially Mac after his accident...WOW...goodjob! Their story continues on and I cant wait to hear the last installment.

This series is so good, it definitely gets your attention and keeps it. binge listen to the first three books, they ate awesome!!! Kaje Harper sure does write a great story. J. F. Harding was the perfect choice to narrate. He sure dies bring these characters life and his voice keeps you wanting more. I believe there's one more book to come, leading to a very HEA for Tony and Mack.

Addictive Series

Kaje Harper wrote the Life Lessons series almost a decade ago. Many books from that era haven’t stood the test of time – these books have. I’ve loved every instalment of Tony and Mac’s journey together. About what life was like before same sex marriage was legal everywhere in the US – and what it might look like again if the people don’t fight to keep it.

But back to Mac and Tony. They’re living together and trying to make their family work. Mac’s daughter Anna is still struggling with being away from Aunt Brenda and her extreme religious views. Tony’s Ben is still dealing with the trauma of losing his mom and of secrets he struggles to admit. To top it all off, Mac’s got a new case and that means Tony’s carrying much of the load at home. But they have supportive people in their lives who step up to help with the kids. Especially when something life-altering happens to Mac.

This book is as much about the pauses as it is about the action. Yes, I wanted to know who the killer was. Yes, I wanted to know if justice would be served. But I also wanted to know how the men held together their precious family. How the kids coped with their demons. How Tony and Mac found time to solidify their relationship while keeping the kids and their needs always just right there.

This series is narrated by J.F. Harding, who I think has done a fantastic job. Through the last bit of the book, he had an extra challenge that he handled brilliantly. And although the books are most enjoyed in order, this one is so good it could stand on its own. I’m so glad these have finally come to audio – a way for old fans to reconnect with characters they love and for new fans to discover Ms. Harper’s great story.

Very Enjoyable

Home Work is Book 3 in the Life Lessons series and should be enjoyed in order as it's an ongoing storyline. This is a fascinating story as Mac and Tony find themselves trying to find a balance between home and family, and work. With Mac being a homicide detective his job is very demanding and that leaves Tony left to care for their home and two children on top of his own job. This book is fast paced and a bit intense as Mac tracks down a suspect only to find there is so much more to the story. I love the connection Mac and Tony have and their willingness to do whatever is necessary to keep their family safe and healing. Life isn't fair but they make the best with what and who is around them. I definitely recommend this book and series.
Narrator J.F. Harding does an amazing job in bringing these characters to life. He has a wonderful voice and is definitely a favorite. I look forward to listening to more of his narrations.

So exciting

This series is so intense! You do need to read in order though.
In this Mac and Tony are out as a couple and decide to get married
( I’m not calling that a spoiler)
Though as all things in life happen especially in fiction and suspense twists and turns take place.
In the first book I was on edge but jiminy Christmas I almost fainted here. Kaje how could you?!!

Now on to the next book because yes it’s a series, yes it’s ongoing and yes a bit of a cliffhanger but oh so good!

I did listen to this and recommend if you have a chance to do so. The narration adds that extra excitement and I really wonder how long they practiced Mac’s Part towards the end. That had to be hard to do.

Looking Forward to the Next Book!

Home work was an excellent sequel to the previous books in the series. This story is heart-wrenching, especially toward the end. The main characters, Mac and Tony, are happily in love and ready to take the next step. I enjoyed seeing both characters evolve and love each other. The homophobia that Mac endured didn’t get easier, but I was happy to see him supported by the people who mattered.
I’m looking forward to the next installment. J.F. Harding did a fantastic job narrating, as usual. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Life Changes

This series has been so good and this is another good story. Tony, Mac and their little family are dealing with many changes and more things that life throws at them. It gets a bit intense and adding in the narration by JF Harding only adds to the experience.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Awesome series

I don’t know about anyone else but Kaje Harper is just Awesome along with JF Harding. What a talented duo. I compare only to the talent of Gregory Ashe. GA is more slow burn and KH is semi early burn but these two authors have incredible talent and they both use the incredible talent of JF Harding. This series has me holding white knuckled to by bed spread waiting for more info. INCREDIBLE. So worth the credit. Can’t wait for next book. I love this series!!!!!!!!!!

Love Tony and Mac

I don't particularly care for same couple series but Life Lessons series is an exception to that.

Tony, Mac, Anna, and Ben are trying to adjust to life as a family. Each one dealing with their battle. Mac picks up a case about a dead addict that leads us down some twists and turns. Tony struggles with feeling like everything is thrown on him bc Mac is gone so much. All while trying to help the kids through their own traumas. Mac and Tony also take a huge step in their relationship, family comes together, and the case has you invested in seeing it solved. Oliver also plays a bigger and more meaningful part in this book. I look forward to the next book.
