About this listen

A warm pie. A tasty guy. Happy Thanksgiving indeed.

Lauren Hauser is home for the holidays, and she's been given a challenge: preparing her grandmother's pecan pie. The problem? Lauren's not famed for her baking skills. In fact, while her sister would win Star Baker every week and her mom at least knows a sieve from a spatula, Lauren's baked goods have always been more dangerous than delicious!

Still, no Thanksgiving would be complete without dessert, so Lauren finds herself searching for pecans on Thanksgiving Eve. Stumbling into a gorgeous stranger laden down with bags of pecans seems like a holiday miracle. Despite Jack's kissable lips, he's frostier than a snow cone and out of sight before she can say "Macy's Parade"!

As the clock counts down to Thanksgiving dinner, Lauren is running out of time. Without her grandmother's perfect pecan pie, it won't be a very happy Thanksgiving! What Lauren needs is a knight in shining armor. It might just be that the magic of Thanksgiving will find her one after all.

I loved this audiobook.

What did you love best about How to Bake the Perfect Pecan Pie?

I could relate to idea of family and holidays. Lauren's family reminded me of mine.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lauren's grandmother. I hope to be as plucky as her when I grow older.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

Everything. She is a great narrator and I have enjoyed both books I have heard her narrate.

Any additional comments?

Lauren is home at her parents house for the Thanksgiving holiday and it is everything every family should be. There is food, laughter, unique relatives and meddling. Lots of meddling. Lauren is asked to bake the Hauser family secret recipe Pecan Pie the day before Thanksgiving but Lauren can't cook, she can't get enough pecans, and the car breaks down. This meddling helps Lauren to meet Jack and that's when the story really begins.

Fun and exciting too...

I received this audio book as a gift in exchange for a honest and unbiased review. This story is about a girl who visits her family for Thanksgiving and is set up to meet a man by her own family member. It all started with Pecans...

This book is witty and funny and exciting. I really like Jack and Lauren is fun too. The whole family is a hoot! Never under estimate a Grandma!

The author, Gina Henning did a fantastic job writing this story in a way as only she can, loaded with humor and excitement. She got my interest from page one and kept it throughout the entire book. The narrator, Hollie Jackson did a great job delivering this story too. I loved the multiple voices and accents. This narrator delivered another flawless read which is soothing on the ears. Great job ladies!

Romance with baking

This is the first book in the Home for the Holidays series. I read this series out of order, starting at book two, then book three. Now I have come back to the beginning to see how it all started. I have noticed the author's writing improve over the series and I'm really looking forward to book four coming out soon.

It was strange meet Jack and not like him after being totally in love with him in the following books. It took me quite a while to warm up to him in this book.

This is a fun, light chick lit read. Perfect to enjoy with a cuppa and a slice of pie. Mmmm pecan pie. Now I'm hungry again.

I listened to the audiobook edition, which I received free in exchange for an honest review. The narrator spoke clearly and at a good pace.

Cosy Thanksgiving story

Have you listened to any of Hollie Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

brilliant as always

Any additional comments?

This was a warm, cosy, and such a fun story, giving an insight into all the crazyness that can happen at thanksgiving (not at tradition we have in Europe) I enjoyed the characters and the build up to the "point" of the story.
Now I'm even tempted to give the Pecan pie recipe (included) a try-

Really well narrated by Hollie Jackson, bringing all the characters to life and making it extra charming .
