It really works!!!

This book works. It's hard to believe but if you read each chapter and do the exercises (for practice) and then try it out on your kids (or in my case, my kindergarten aged niece) -- it actually works! Here's an example: my niece was having a WWIII type of tantrum one day because her candy cane had broken in half. (It was Christmas time.) Her parents, older sister, grandma, everyone was telling her that it was no big deal, she can have another candy cane, it will still taste just the same, etc., anything to get her to see reason and calm down. It only made her fit worse. Things escalated. Her mother started shouting threats to send her to her room. Then - I tried something that I had read in the book: Let the child have the feelings she's feeling and let her know that she's having those feelings. So, I went over to her and said -- just like one of the book's exercises: "It's terrible. Your candy cane broke, and now it's not a perfect candy cane anymore. Even though it will taste the same, it's not a candy CANE anymore. I can see how upsetting it is, because it's not the perfect candy cane that it used to be."

Rachel Burgess knows her stuff!

I'm a fan of Rachel's work. She makes the boring and tiresome information and research seem easy and interesting to listen to. If you're looking for an audiobook that will help you enhance your relationship with your child, this is the one you need to listen to. I've got a lot of good and solid advice from this that I've applied and already got results! Thank you!

Interesting timing...

Thanks to a certain virus (which shall not be named), I found myself with more time at home with my kiddos, and to sit back and enjoy an audiobook or two. Well...this audiobook certainly came in handy. I've been spending so much more time with my kids that I could actually implement what I was learning in this audiobook.

Oddly enough I learned more about myself than I did about my kids. For one, I realized I don't really take the time to truly listen to my kids. With all of the hustle and bustle of life, sometimes actually listening (and not just hearing) what my kids have to say isn't a top priority. That's not the parent I want to be, and it was a hard pill to swallow.

There's a lot in these two books so don't feel you need to implement every single thing. Pick one particular area you'd like to improve on with your relationship with your kids, and run with it! You won't regret.

Happy parenting!

Great book for parents

You want your children to succeed, look no further, this book is for you. I love this book because it gives you the secret to parenting your children. The author talks about letting your children help with chores when they are young. Also, when parents set high expectations for your children, the children will live up to those expectations. I love chapter 7 when the author talks about teaching your children to eat healthily and exercise. Great book.

Sound and helpful advice.

I thought this would be a book full of common sense and in some ways it is, but in other ways I learn things I didn’t know. I have read a book by this author before and can tell she wants nothing more but for children to get the best start in life and any power and who reads this book and implements its advice will certainly do that for the child. It is a great book.

2 for 1 Value

I really enjoyed this bundle. It really is a value of 2 in 1. It was a good learning book about how to communicate with children and help them succeed with whatever they want to achieve in their lives. I really enjoyed distention got it too. The two different narrators made it better in a way. I really like it and think that everyone should listen to it. Even if you don't have kids, like me.
